There IS shit you can do with a WON ID. First of all u see the cheat, record a demo of him, type 'status' to get won id. Then 'condump x'. Condump puts all the stuff from ur console into a text file in your cstrike/tfc etc directory. U can then send the condump, demo, and time u were playing to a server admin who can check the server logs for the time the offender was on. The demo is evidence that the person was cheating the admin can then ban him.

At least in theory. You see demo recording screws up loads.

yeah you could go threw all that trouble with the WON id, or you could just alt TAB to irc get a /bw admin to joion your game and they will ban the player for you. takes 2 minutes no hassle. However its short term, they player is only banned for that server or server group, not across the board. Unfortunatley their is also a ban hack.

Interesting point meats. Been thinking about it for a while and I still haven't come to any definitive conclusion.

Would you define the asus drivers as an exploit? Not really, but it is a cheat. However, spikes, or water crouching (ala Siege) is an exploit, and a cheat.

Dunno really, but I suppose a cheat isn't neccessarily an exploit.

Spikes are cheats, but the fact your clearly able to make them in the first place, means it's classed as an exploit, well thats all you do when you change them, exploit the fact you can. Personaly, i would give up custom models/skins, in a second, just to be rid of the amount of people that use spikes. It's imposable, or near as to be able to say a person is using spikes for sure, because they will allways say they don't when challenged.

One thing that nobody seems to have noticed about WON ids'.... they are no longer the same every time you play. Your "unique WON id" isn't any more.... not since WON was taken over by someone else.

So getting a cheater's WON id is of very little use any more. Not that it was *ever* much use on BW servers since there is no mechanism in place for permanant, across-the-board bans (unless things have changed recently and nobody's told me).

I've been loathe to point these 2 facts out for obvious reasons but I kinda think the pressure should be put on the current owners of WON to re-instate permanant, unique id's and I also think BW (if it survives past the next few days/weeks, fingers crossed) needs to implement a perm-ban system.

Erm, speed cheats, too be honest they can cheat all they like, but the bastards will still lose one way or another, either they will lose because they can't hit shit when moving at a high speed, or..... they will be lesser men for having to resort to cheating to win.

An exploit is using a bug in the engine/map/other to your advantage (eg hostage jumping, crouching in water, etc).

A cheat is physically changing an element of the game to your advantage (aimbot, spikes, etc).

Exploits are cheating, but are almost "more defensible" versions (ie people will say "it's in the game why can't I use it?) whereas there's really no defence to using a cheat. However, you are a cunt if you do either.

I haven't read all the posts,
but from what I understand people running Windows 2000 may experience changes in perception, either they speed up or slow down or other people do, or they have just been taking drugs.
This post should be removed because of the nature of it's content, i.e. cheaters trying to get data to cheat.

Speedy Cheat Patch

Hi all, just wondering if there's any news on the patch from valve for the speed cheat. Just been on a server with 7 people and 5 complete fucksticks had it. If its available pls let me know of where and how to get it. Thanks
