Anyone watching it? Basically channel 4 are filming some guys who think they are going to be the first UK space tourists. Millions have been spent on the sets and the aim is to make them believe they will fly within a shuttle and land again.

Question is will the 'tourists' catch on its a haox? :)

Its mildy entertaining...

I've watched this the last two nights and I think they'll pull it off quite easily. Mainly as the people involved are as thick as pig shit!

Quotes that have stood out.

"Going to space is like Chessington World of Adventures times 10 000"

"Look, it's a real SCUD missile!"

and to show they actually believe it's Russia, one of the guys was heard to say, "It's bloody freezing here" :)

I guarentee after it's over they'll all say they knew something fishy was going on. But the fact they didn't even blink when they were told they were going into orbit and wouldn't be weightless.
I've a feeling these are the kind of people that didn't really pay attention in school. It was amazing to see their professions to.

We have two media students (Having worked at a uni I can vouch for the supidity of some media students :)), two administrators (WTF is an administrator? New PC term for secretery?) and a *cough*PE teacher*cough*

I'm interested to see how this all pans out :)

I hate the whole concept. To me this is the modern equivalent of Victorians going on aday trip to Bedlam to watch the inmates. These people have been pre-selected for their gullability, so its like shooting fish in a barrel.

Its not funny, its just cruelty. At least with other shows like "There's something about Miriam", while I may not have liked the show, I could at least appreciate how the contestants could have been fooled, and that being stupid wasn't a prerequisite.

I think the show is pretty cruel to be honest and like some people have said it could effect these people long term with all the crap they will get.

Nobody likes being the butt of a joke and this is the biggest joke of all time.

But anyway how they think they are going into space is crazy.. even for the height they are going it would take atleast a few months training.

It's the launch tonight. I have a suspision this may be where it all falls apart. I just can't believe that you can fool someone with a TV screen and a simulator. It's just not going to be realistic enough. Then again, with no frame of reference and the gullibility of the contestants, maybe they will pull it off.

Also, if I'm not sure how they are planning on doing a space walk? ;)

I'm waiting for the fake alien visitation/invasion.

Well, what a bust. Seemed like half of the damn thing didn't work and they still bought it ;)

Loved the bit where Charlie was saying, "Give me £250 000 or I blow the whole thing ;)"

While they are in 'space' they should open the main doors or smash a window open. The look on their faces would be a picture and a half :)

So far I've found it really, really boring. But I've not had a chance to watch any of the highlights from 'in space' just yet.

My great hope is that they'll end it with something absolutely absurd (alien invasion, giant astroid, international space space station asking to borrow a lemon). Even then, it'll make for one nights entertainment for two weeks of tedium.
