vista worth using now ? :>

it was always worth using, if your question is, is it worth upgrading from xp? the answer is no unless you have a powerful pc capable of running dx10 gfx (asuming thats what you are using it for)

It runs almost all applications xp does, the only problems i have had are to do with x64 windows which are also presant in win xp 64,
But why would you upgrade if your current os does everything you want it to

You can run pretty much all the DX10 effects on XP if you tweak files, with service pack 3 on its way for XP there is no reason at all to update to vista, not for another year if at all.

Newer games are beginning to show gains when running in dx10, the only reason it has taken this long is the simple fact that games are coded for dx9 and then have dx10 features (which can be emulated) bolted on so you do not get the gains from the dx10 architecture.
It is not possible to hack dx9 to run games coded for dx10 games because the framerate would just plummet to un-playable
In addition we have yet to see a release which takes advantage of the dx10 architecture, more efficient and better constructed code with more stringent hardware standards are why dx10 is better, but if developers arent building things with dx10 there will be no gains from it
It's not a matter of what you see, it a matter of how much and at what complexity in relation to performance

I stand by what i said, there is no need to upgrade to vista unless you have a powerful pc because you will see gains in dx10 on the newer releases examples off the top of my head is Assasins Creed

I tend to find the only time it's worth updating is when I get a new PC and the new version comes with it.

The SP1 pack seems fine. Installed it on the laptop this morning (seemed the smart thing to do considering I don't want it slowing to shit when I need it for work).
So far, its just a little quicker. I'm going to have a look at the backups and some of the file system, to see if files have been cleaned up.

Will have to see if its still working in the long run.

the major boost comes with copying files which it has improved.

As for Vista i would not pay for an upgrade from XP but now if a PC came with it i would not pay for a downgrade either.

Works fine on my AMD 9600. Noticably faster performance. I believe my chip had an issue with previous versions of vista. But yes, it's worth it now for me at least.

well, its not and that makes it pretty uninteresting.

i have no idea what that sentence means :s, or rather it makes no sense in relation to the quote

Copying files across the network has improved alot and performance has improved a bit only things i have noticed when using it so far
