I always wonder at people living under active volcanos or right on the San Andreas fault line.

Its not a case of if - but when.

Scientists can't accurately predict when they will happen, all they can do is rely on their instrumentation sensors to give a likelihood of earth tremors or volcano magma chamber shifts.

A million people live under the shadow of Etna. Thats a lot of ppl to evacuate.

It's a bit like all the people in this country who get homes that are on floodplains, or close to sea level or river banks. You just know they'll flood often, and that it'll get worse as the years continue.

They also whine about lack of government funding for stopping the water, and yet what flood defences tend to do is to reduce the incidence of flooding, whilst ensuring that when the defences finally do break, there will be a lot more water flooding out.

Sure, some people may not have realised this until recently, but there are still developers building on this land, and still people buying the houses.

Made certain that my house was a good way above any such problems - it was one of my main criteria for purchase.

ye i dont understand some ppl who buy houses where they buy them. i mean who the hell would buy a house that backs onto a busy railway line or a motorway when there are millions of houses that dont? strange ppl :eek7:
