Guys,

I have an MSI mobo with onboard sound. Now this may sound bad, but the sound I gat from this is actually quite excellent.

However, during online gaming (CS) ive been told that there is quite a lot of breakup when I speak.

Im not 100% convinced that its the onboard sound that is causing the problem (since normal sound is good) but is there anything I can do it tweak what I have before I shell out on a new card.

Im using the AC97 cound drivers for the O/B card.

Turn down the mic recording volume. Most voice apps have a loopback/test mode, give it a go.

I find on my onboard sound i sometimes get other peoples' speech garbled and 'robotified™', but it usually passes.

Nope - that didnt help much, but thanks neway babs.

Tried the loopback thingy and the first 2/3 words sounded crystal, then everything after that sounded like me out on the pish for 24 hours.

looks like a little expenditure onthe sound card front.
