Mobo : ASrock dual series mobo
CPU : amd 64 3200+
GFX : ati radeon x800pro (rare agp version) whit latest drivers
onboard sound

i only get that backround noise when there something whit gfx working.... like a game... DAoC for example

when i alt tab from it... it goes away. its not only me who hears it, its the ppl that are in vent allso..

i think ill try and go back to some older version of catalyst... i had a stable version once but cant remember the nr on it... mybe 6.4, the latest one is 6.7

lil update.... i took apart the PC allmost.

cleaned the vents and stuff on my GFX and CPU... did a fresh install on gfx drivers and sound card.

that took down the noise quite alot, but i can still hear it REALLy faint when playing games. so dunno :/

:p

Anyways sounds like eith fans have dust on them making them unbalanced and so rattleing, or you've got some resonance with your case, does it happen to be an aluminium one?

Would explain why it happens with games as gpu and cpu go to load, fans spin up more and so would produce resonance.

Also what's your Hard drive, some are much louder than others

@ Confused - I think you may be going OTT on this!

Tabbi had this problem, sounded like he was in a rally car all the time hehe, i think he bought a new mic but you could try this.

Right Click My Computer
Goto Properties
Choose Hardware
Choose Device Manager

Now locate all your sound devices and update their drivers, sometimes if they are all different versions you can get interference.
