Help Sound editing software or wtf you call it

Im after a programme thats easy to use, where I can mix songs, like so I can make a demo tape if you will. Any ideas?

Im sure you can acquire it at a much lower price (around £0 + the time it takes to d/l)... its the only sound editing program ive ever used so i cant say if its top of the line or the worst shit ever, but it was easy to use. although this was 10 years ago
