...but reading how things were back then compared to now i just realised how much this game lost what it really had.

Remember all those lds/server crashes/server hacks/roll backs etc?

Even though those were big problems we loved the game and still kept on playing.. now its just shit..

Anyways i remember when Nicky/Brennik/Zana and Lanvar took me for the first ride to rvr in 1fg just roaming and we got a fair bunch of rps, i was of course a noob breaking mez without slam cause i did'nt have it back then lol..

Thought it was so cool when ambi used his void aoe and machi 1 shotting noob mages to the left and right (finally made me roll a eldritch).

Me and novamir were the only real hybrids heroes (although he sucked ) and maybe Rip.

Elea being red con to me and later on he gave up on xping and just rvred like a maniac.

Oh lol remember when pulling 1-2 mobs at same time and no1 knew what pbaoe was and having a group full of heroes was the most safe thing with a bard + druid + warden. when you accidentally pulled 2 red/purp mobs and the group was wiped because you didnt manage to mez the other, lol.

lol I played this game as long as you have btw. I don't need as high ambitions as you have put for yourself and your friends to enjoy my time played, and I certainly didn't piss off half as many people as you did trying to achieve those goals.

Ambitions or not its mine and not yours, if i put them higher than yours and still reach them maybe this means i got more out of the game than you did? Running around in epic still lol. I don't hate you, I'm just disagreeing with you. I think people who keep stressing how crap the game has become are getting other people down, which is why I replied. Which is what people do when you post something on a public forum. Maybe you got more out of the game, from what I've seen you did it at the expense of a lot of things that I would hold dearer. I get enough out of the game running around in epic armor btw. Slowly getting SC together now, no rush.

I miss the old days

- Not knowing my way around hib
- RvR @ lvl30 and kicking ass
- The day I first stumbled into CM by accident and everything was purple and nasty and noone was in there coz it was too tough
- Going to RvR with just Nova or just Cuther and pwning a fg of peeps coz they couldnt purge my mez(no RA's at the time)
- Hitting poeple for uber damage coz noone had SC kits

and so much more. Daoc is getting crap nowdays, only play coz of the people and coz my work is quiet atm

It's you who made it a personal issue bub. Your point was that the game was so much more fun in the old days. I think it's still fun, but a lot of veterans are complaining about it, which is imo exactly negative energy, which is getting other people down, which is what I don't like, so I replied.

oh and in answer with the actual topic, i remember the old days to when to get a lvl 50 was a big deal, now its just hey good for u... most peeps get powerlvled to hell now and dont know thier chars, which wastes the game too.

Anyone remember when if u got and RvR group you would stay as long as possible, now every 2 mins u get someone leaveing it for a gg or cos they are bored.

I remember my first RvR experience was with a druid named Coulden he took me to mid at lvl 22 and we had a good laugh. actually thats a lie my first one was with Ebonn when we was in link dead, he took me to mid and we both got killed in seconds, anyway anyone remember hitting lvl 20 and just haveing to go to alb or mid to explore??

Anyone remember thier first glowie or coloured sword? i had 2 quest falcatas from a lvl 27 quest and i loved em a nice charcoal colour.

The games lost alot but not just cos of goa/mythic but because of the peeps who play, everyone wants power leveled or something for nothing.

My 'good old days' were in Alb, but it doesn't really matter what realm one plays, the same principal applies.
I remeber getting frustrated at lvl 19 when I thought I would NEVER make it to 20. (wow a whole day)
I remember my 1st 50 ding. Advisors in Barrows with my sorc Dreama. That was fun. 2 days non stop playing lvl 45 to 50. Damn I was tired after that.
I think the game is still as fun as it was the day we all started playing. The problem isn't that it is lacking now, it's that we've all played it for so long there's very little left to do that we haven't done a thousand times before.
I gotta agree with Enscep tho, the negative energy of the whinning and bitching from people brings a lot of ppl down.
I remeber when I went on my 1st dragon raid, my first legion raid ect...it was fun, and no one was concerned with drops or anything. No a days it seems like if you go on a raid you better get a drop, cuz if not, inc whines/bitches/cries.
That's got nothing to do with the game tho, and all to do with the people. If the people would calm down and play it as a game like it is, then the game would remain fun a lot longer for a lot more people.

old days were soooooo uber, it was all about the first discoveries

you could actually have the best items back then... have individual specs... be the first to do things =P

i loved being 2nd hero in hib to 50 after kainz (bastard!) and then first tank (excluding skalds ) to rr3, 4, 5. old days were fresh, fun, uber. rvr was amazing at first.. i remember the first time we got 8 level 50s in an rvr group we literally came in our pants

i never really liked matinex at first coz he was a lippy shite who was lower level and ordered people around.. then i realised actually that was basically what i was which was probably why it annoyed me! btw mati : http://62.190.93.70/files/zenith/oldtime-rvr.jpg - this would have been one of the times we took you to emain under our wing

you had your tight knit friends and didn't really know that many others. I remember trying ald for the first time at 46 when most mids were 47-49 and a couple of albs had dinged 50 and thinking..... OMFG this is so fucking uber. rangers were sooo easy to rake in the RPs with.

now unfortunately the game is much less varied- simply because we know everything, although it is still fun in bursts. the emain grind is certainly very old now. everyone has the same stats which are very easy to get with lame quests and cheap 99% armour. all melees have the same procs. all heros hit for the same. there is no individuality any more. other than chatting/playing with guild mates and doing guild events/rvr, there's not a lot left in this game for me.

i know every single spell and style in every single spec line in the whole of daoc. i know exactly what class is every invader 10sec after i see them in rvr. i know how to win rvr, and why we lose. i remember when i was like... OMFG Kobold?!??! there's nothing to figure out any more. i realise that this is the natural progression of an mmorpg.. i sought to master it from the start, and now there is no challenges left =/. and please don't say getting the next realm rank is that challenging. this will probably be taken as a brag/whine post i guess, but i don't really care. flame away if you want.
