Genre : Indie
Artist : The Kooks
Song : Niave

Great song from a new band taking the UK clubs by storm. I imagine quite a few have heard this, but if you haven't it's well worth a listen.

Genre : Rock/Emo
Artist : Taking Back Sunday
Song : Makedamnsure // Miami

Two great songs from their new Album. I've had the album in the car a few weeks now and these are the two songs that are played the most.

Genre : Not sure - Somewhat indie/rock
Artist : Mobiletheband
Song : Montreal Calling

A relatively unknown band, i first heard them when i saw them live supporting another band. A great Canadian band which i think will someday hit it big. They released their first Album in April but it has yet to reach UK stores, worth a listen imo.

Loads of stuff I'd recommend for people to give a try to that they wouldn't normally pick up.

A few just off the top of my head

Tracy Chapman, her original debut album called the same (Tracy Chapman), contains the amazing Fast Car, For My Lover and Talkin' About A Revolution.

Suzanne Vega - The Queen and the Soldier

TheThe - their second album Infected

Nightwish - Any really but my fav atm is Creek Mary's Blood from Once

The Levellers - Levelling the Land or Zietgeist albums

Paul Simon - Graceland

Anything of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who appear with Paul Simon on this, Shaka Zulu is their debut album

K T Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope (Mercury prize nominee and Ivor Novello winner)

Seth Lakeman - Kitty Jay (another Mercury nominee)

Anyways, there's some completely different genres to try out.

I'd actually say don't classify anything by genre or whatever. Listen to each new piece with no preconceptions whatsoever; you get a lot more out of it that way. Just an idea...I love to stick my entire MP3 collection on random play, it's really fun to have so much diverse shit all mixed up. Really keeps things fresh that way.
