donno if this has been done ?
we all know the beatles and elvis will live forever so lets look at 70's and up

So wich post 1970 songs do you think will still stand as timeless classics in 250years +

in other words wich do you think will be the comming beethovens, the new mozarts, chopin, vivaldi and so on and so forth

I'd say some of the abba songs for sure, and well metallica's nothing els matters f.eks and many more, but before i go spamming links to youtubes lets here your opinoins.

Allas I will leave you with one, and you may not agree, but I'd challenge that that start to the song is so unique that it'll live on for many many years
take f.exp da dada dam, da dada dam.... most only know that bit and the short bit that follows, yet we all know that bit dont we ? it's immortal, so barring that in mind i give you:

the sad part is, it's not really about whats cool here, or well that too but mostly it's all about whats known, or even wich songs have the best "hooks" like alot of MJ's songs, you may not like em, but you gotta give the guy credit, they bloody stick. So basicly whats mainstream 30years on ect. or will be 30years on and even 250years on. so yeah corZkey is on to something

Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits

thats an awsome song,
Yet I dout it will stand the test of time, sure it will still be around by then no dout, but my guess is it will be around in the same way some classical numbers are around today, geeks and scolars will know it/play it. people will go to fine concerts to hear it, but it wont be mianstream it wont be instantly recognizeble by the masses for centuries to come.

Dire straits rock their face off.

Yes, yes i do. They are both albums btw, artists are remembered for albums more than single songs.

the thing with a song like this, and the reason it will go down in history is, it doesnt stand alone it represents the mainstream metallica and it has that special something about it, f.exp I prefer unforgiven to this one yet I have no dout wich will still be around come 2532 as aflik someone said in an earlier thread, chances are even your granny knows the lyrics, thats why!
