Whats the problem with whining about own kids being gay?

And modern Britain my ass, you watch stupid TV shows and complain about people who are prolly fools (or they wouldn't be in the show) and that really shows how modern you are. You say modern like it would be a positive attribute but you mean that Pakistan and India are backward. Guess what, GDP isn't everything.

GDP?

errr... Wait a minute...

So basically what you´re saying is: the thing might be ok but we should forbid (!) it because of the expected response of our society???? What the hell!? :eek7:

If the majority of people believes in god.. should we forbid children to not believe in god because everyone will /point at them?

No. I think being gay is absolutely wrong, BUT I also believe that everyone can do their shit as long as it doesn't affect anyone else.
Children have no choice and no matter where you go, people WILL make jokes about their parents being gay so it's absolutely irresponsible to put children in such an environment. I remember we had a guy at school who wasn't a bad person really, but his parents had a smelly appartment and were known not to be the cleanest peeps.....so I guess you can imagine the fun we made about him, although he couldn't really do anything about it.

Also a child needs a father and a mother, as both play different roles during the education and growing up. That's a simple psychological thing.

I can't answer the belief thing as I'm not personally familiar with an area where such a thing occurs. I can say though, that I never had problems with being religious in a rather atheistic surrounding /shrug.

what if i dont like being around black people? wouldnt that qualify me as a racist?

Define "dont like being around".

What I was talking about was a phobia - an irrationally strong fear or something that can be beyond reason or control. I had reasons for mine so it wasnt completely irrational but that doesnt change the fact that for a long while I didnt have a choice in the matter - if an overtly camp/gay person came into the room I would become nervous instantly and would feel compelled to leave as soon as possible.

You are making it sound like I had a choice, that I didnt like being around gay people out of choice, this is not a phobia in the true sense.

What you are comparing it to is Xenophobia, or something similar, this is not imo anywhere near as bad as racism, but nowadays the two would struggle to be recognised as different things.

For example, say a 5 year old is in london on the 7/11 attacks and sees both his parents taken out by bombs, then gets to live through all the hype and anger at islam that follows, the 5 year old develops an intense fear of arabs because of this, is this racism or xenophobia (or its racial equivelant)? not the best example but the only one I can think of atm.

Just trying to give food for thought, not all homophobics are the crazy skinheaded neo nazis that the media seems to enjoy talking about so much. I do not think that homophobia should be accepted so much as it should be tolerated alot more than it is.

So again.. because the society believes something is "true" we should automatically forbid the opposite because the reaction of the society would be too harsh? Can you imagine where out society would be today if we would have been following your example?

A "simple psychological thing"? There is no such thing as a simple psychological thing. However, that´s where we actually agree in some form. I, too, believe that it´s a good thing for a child to have a male and a female peer. But unlike you, I can´t put my finger on it, let alone call it "simple".

I don't think gay couples should have kids aside from the effect it would have on a persons outlook on the world (which is probably best left for another thread) if anyone remembers being at school and what utter cnuts kids can be, the kid would have to put up with years of abuse from the other children.

I simply think responsible parents wouldn't do such a thing and to protect eventual children, it should be forbidden. If your society that buddhism is the only way to go, then you can try to move to another place....I don't know a place where people don't make fun of gays though.

No, there is no thing as a simple psychological thing, but in the same way there is no such thing as a simple operation on patients. I meant it as a figure of speech to show that we're not talking about psychological rocket science here. It's an old thing that both parents play a different role while the kid grows up, so more or less a basic knowledge of cognitive science.

Exactly what I said =)

And I wanted to add one little point about the children thing. As we all know (at least I hope so), children aren't made of air or wood, but - surprise - require a sperm and an ovum.Given that this stuff has to come from somewhere, you have to see this from two perspectives.
If you have gay men who want a child, then they need to find a "breeding machine" who is there for the sole purpose of giving them a child. Now a honest question to all women: Would you go to all the stress just to give away the result?
Now if you have two gay women, they need a sperm donator to get what they want. Now I can say for sure that I wouldn't want to give my sperm to some people and in that case, even friends are "some people". What if they turn out to be horrible parents? Then you're the biological father of a kid that lives a shit life...really a good thing to see, knowing it's all your fault. Personally.....that would be a big no from me.

I'm already hearing the "but you can adopt a child" voices in my head, but that's something totally different imho. Ofc I can't make an absolute statement on that cause I haven't been adopted and I don't know any adopted people, but it's not "making" the child. Sure you can love an adopted child, but there will always be a difference I think.

why is it not biologily correct? how in the worlds are you to decide what the hell biology holds? if it happens to humans then why isnt it biologily correct?

Point of life - reproduction.

Gay = Failed.

Being gay is a genetic mutation, I will disagre strongly with anyone who says it's normal. It's not normal, but that doesn't mean it is not acceptable.

I don't care which bun you stick your sausage, but its not fucking normal and is not was intended for humanity.

That might be the design for life (que song!) but its not the point of life

Gay = Failed.
What are your criteria for success, what are your criteria for failure? The reproduction argument is flawed - your an intelligent guy - I wont insult you by pointing out why.

Being gay is a genetic mutation
Please provide link to the scientific paper prooving this for all instances. In a way our enture genomes just a huge collection of genetic mutations - I dont see how its at all relevant in any case.

The old question - define normal.

is not was intended for humanity.
I'm interested in who you think the entity is that has an intent or a design for humanity. Please give further info.

PS. Where are the gamsy funnies :(

Just to open a new can of worms ....

Dean Hamer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Specifically .....

In the 1990s Hamer began studies of the role of genes in human behavior. In 1993 he published a paper suggesting the existence of gay genes that predispose men towards homosexuality, and presented evidence that one of these genes was associated with the Xq28 marker on the X chromosome. Subsequently, several additional linked regions on other chromosomes have been described, and the heritability of sexual orientation has been confirmed by improved twin studies. However, in his own words, 'There is not a single master gene that makes people gay...'

Now if this is the case does this mean that homosexuallity is a mutation and possibly detectable and treatable?

Everything about us is a genetic mutation. Being white is a genetic mutation, being a ginge is a genetic mutation, having a small cock is a genetic mutation. Everything about us is the product of genetic mutations, in fact not reproducing asexually is the result of millions of years of genetic mutations, we are after all just severely mutated bacteria.
So technically being heterosexual is the least natural way to reproduce and the biggest abberation of nature.
I do hope you never masterbate or indulge in oral sex (not that you probably get much anyway...) because those are unnatural acts of the highest order and by your thinking aren't want is intended for humanity and full of fail.

I was willing to accept your points until you made a childish insult. Now you are just another troll.

I'd have to disagree to a point, i'd say it WASN'T meant for humanity.

As such, it MIGHT(assuming i know), even be the next evolutionary step towards a non-gender species? Just speculating wildly here.

As a "keeping a species alive", homosexuality does not count into it at all(except as a "load reliever" as i stated happens in the animal world), but as humans evolved, isn't it as natural as moving into warm houses and shedding most our fur while wearing fur, to be aroused by other member of the same sex?

Kind of like, evolution of the thinking species?

Little childish diggs really are not needed in a thread that most people are making good points in.

Gamah, the childish insults started with GAY = Fail
Although i take it as a compliment being called a troll by one of the most persistant ones on FH.

It's not an insult, you fail at reproduction...how is that far from the truth?

Being gay isn't just being aroused by members of the same sex. That would make you bi wouldn't it?

It's not finding members of the other sex attractive. You can argue that finding blokes attractive as a bloke might be the next step in the evolutionary process. I think you'll struggle to argue that not wanting to sleep with women is tho.

Well, i might have worded my thoughts poorly there, yes. If evolution was taking us towards a one sexed species, then bi-sexual would be the next evolutionary step. right there.

A better example for what i meant, of an evolutionary chain, to make homosexuality an evolutionary step, would have been that evolution was taking us towards a divided, gender based species.

I know it's not as good as the bi-sexual example you brought up, but still, the point was rather to say that one can only speculate if being gay/bi is or isn't an evolutionary step.

Since women already have the majority of the child producing tools it's much more likely that women will be the first of the genders to be able to reproduce with each other. As a man this makes me pretty much useless, and as such to protect the interests of my gender I should try and discourage this behaviour as much as possible.

Unless of course they are filming it and publishing it on the internet so I can carefully inspect it to ensure no child producing is occuring!

Sorry but its accademic whether they are Muslim or not.

The problem is that is part of their religion not to accept homosexuality. Ask any Muslim if it is acceptable given the texts in the Koran?
