How the fuck can a father justify slitting his own daughters throat. I know we're constantly told not to tar entire races and religions with the same brush but sometimes the actions of the SAME few religions sicken me and they claim it to be honourable.

Now I am far from a racist but I really think some people need to take a long hard look at how they value life because I'm pretty damn sure this young girl isn't too happy about visiting Allah right now.

Not only did he kill his 16 year old daughter just for dating a Christian boy but he stabbed her multiple times

If he thinks he was trying to help her by sending her to heaven then surely a quick painless death would be used (Though this would still be the act of a complete ... can't think of an appropriate word.. monster perhaps). Stabbing her to death and then asking for an easy way out like the death sentence yourself is absolutely shocking, no matter what your beliefs.
I hope he gets the worst treatment possible during a long, long prison term.

I think the reason he requested the death sentence was for religion reasons entirely, more than shame/guilt.

Hm, a similar case has just been concluded in Denmark too, here the father drowned the girl for the same reasons while the mother cheered. Of course here you can’t be sentenced for “life” max. 14 years.

My fiance is Turkish Cypriot. Her parents are devout Muslims and we've had to endure untold shit from her family over our relationship (we're 18, been together 5 years...)

When they first found out about us her Dad beat her. So I went round there and kicked the shit out of him. He's tried on numerous occasions to belittle her/us and has threatened to kill me more than once.

Why? I'm not Turkish, I'm not Muslim and I'm mixed race.

How someone can raise a child in England, send them to English schools, watch them take on English values and then when they're old enough to act on them punish them for doing so is totally beyond me.

That article struck a chord with me, it could have easily been my GF on the recieving end...

I'm far from racist, but from what I've experienced personally and seen (growing up in Tottenham - asshole of London) happen to others, Muslim fathers from Turkey/Cyprus/Kurdistan etc absolutely HATE Christians. They call Christian women whores, claim Christians have no moral values and then do shit like this.

Pisses me right off.

From what I understand, this sort of killing isn't part of the Qur'an at all, more the product of a father who will do anything to keep his daughter on the path he sees for her, and how far he will go if he disobeys.

That's the thing, it is common but by no means normal. They reckon 13 of these kind of murders were commited every day in 2000.

It is not condoned by islam in any way, shape or form. Whatever he thinks was the reason. it was ultimately flawed and he deserves more than life imprisonment imho.
