Some Questions i need asnwering please :)

Ok,

Im gonna try an alt out on exca/mid.

only trouble is im not sure which class to start?

i like a class that can solo in pve, and good in rvr and a class that can be group usefull.

Im more of a fighter, but if theres a magic class then ill give it ago.

I might have a friend starting to, so what's a good duo just incase this happens?

Last thing, im still new to game, and will totally be new to midgard, so if there is any guild that wouldnt mind taking a noob on, i'd love it

I'd say skald.

They can solo if needed (damage song, health regen song), they are useful to group (DS, speed song, etc) and there is somewhat of a shortage of them at the moment.

They aren't an uber tank and have no uber RAs, but I think they fit your description best.

Skald or warrior, skald if you like to be needed and able to solo ok, and warrior if you want one of the very best tanks in game.

Here's one to think about: an aug specced healer.

Can solo very effectively, absolutely no downtime between pulls. Buff yourself up, pull yellow/orange, hit it with your hammer, heal yourself, repeat.

Wanted and needed in groups, for healing, mezzes and stun (which are baseline spells so you get them whichever spec you pick). Celerity is also a pretty uber spell.

Can be useful in RvR - although a Pac healer would probably be picked over you, healers are very rarely turned down, whatever spec you are.

aug healer is good at soloing but u dont want too lvl that way takes ages too kill mobs. go pachealer until lvl 40 atleast

YES skald is the best

U can solo in PVE or RVR. And in RVR if u have good RA u can kill easy even the best tanks.

The important thing when u play with the skald: u dont need speed and u can have a lot of fun solowing in RVR.

You will meet many ppl who ask for the speed (and some of them can be those who said a skald is only for teh speed )

And allways in a good RVR group there is a speeder
