solo Mauler fights ...

.. ok, maulers have been unlocked for some time now. More and more maulers are starting to show up in RvR. My own mauler got the template complete today (still made it to 3L6 with an uncomplete template ). As everyone know, everyone who pay their subs have the right to play the game how they like. Me, for example, enjoy this game the most when playing small scale rvr like solo/duo. And from my point of view, maulers are for 1on1 fights as warlocks was before nerf. Increadible OP. The classes i feared the most, has been proven to be the easiest while the classes i though would be a pie, turned out the other way.

But when it comes to Mauler vs Mauler, the story is another. Since each realm have had their own uniqe classes since release of daoc, can we now finally tell who's the better player when each realm have all a identical class. Take me for example. I've fougt so far ~20ish maulers. I've lost one. The one i lost was my first time out in RvR with my mauler, and i dug my own grave pl'ing then rvr without learning the class first.. Now that i do know the class, i still havn't lost to another mauler. The one who lost can't say "i lost because u have a better class etc". We have the same class, i played it better and i won.

Hmm .. think i'm starting to loose my own point here. What i wanted to say/ask from the beginning was, have you other soloers fought any maulers yet? How have given you most problems? If you're a maulers yourself, have you fought other maulers? How are your outcomes?
Who is the better mauler? Who is the better player?

tbh i think its more down to the Templates for same classes...
Stronger Templates have better chance in winning fights. That ofc is my opinion.

First time I saw a mauler in rvr, was like 2 days after hibs unlocked it..
I played with my inf, saw a RR1 mino around beno, thought hey rr1, free rps!.
Didn't even bother with PA, just unstealthed and started hitting it...

After 5 seconds I was on 50%, was like "wtf, ok dumping time" , So used dotmine and battler.. after another 3 seconds I died.

The mauler died too from poison, but after me!

Anyways, since then I think my win percentage is like 20% against a mauler..

And it's getting lower cause they are getting some rr's and have purge/ip etc..

Probably won't attack them at all soon.

See mauler running around -> /clap /dismiss and keep running.
As mentioned, maulers are just like warlocks where when they first came, the 'fotmrollers' way to get some easy rps and hopefully they will be hit with just a big of a nerf as the warlocks got.

only remember one fight vs you, and it was the time on bridge when i was on irc. when i tabed back in the game i was on 10% and a reaver was hitting you, you still kept hitting me.. seconds later you died..

oh and ive lost vs a mauler once or twice.
was rs one time tho so did not even manage to hit it once.
(he started at 60% and ended at 85%ish. :\ )

can only imagine the rr3+ maulers will be impossible for all other classes to kill.

no point fighting a mauler solo, i made the mistake the other day, they eat me alive. im nt sure wat the mauler has tbh, it could b a 1 button class, but i dont think so by the amount of abilities they have. template will come into it alot, and so will the skill of the person playing it, and also experience alot with new classes.

you wont win your DPS is to slow

my dps is similar to yours in a way and this is how it goes i can slam if they are not dropped in slam you lose because this will happen

fight starts ok not so bad they dump warguard slam - dmg dmg dmg they are at 20-40% (IP backup if they need it) bladeturn on, HoT on, Fumble proc 50% up.

Bladeturn, Evade then while you miss them two hits the maulers HoT is generating 10-15% hp every time it ticks on top of that you won have end to style since most of them have 100% end drain

worst thing you can do with a mauler is draw the fight out as you will lose - fast attacking burst DPS is the only thing that will beat them

basically a warden with higher dps

The 2 first maulers my zerker fought i didn't have a chance against. I hit them a couple of times, they get some power, then evadebuff, pbt, fumble, some end drain... repeat. They are worse than vamps, tbh.
The 3rd mauler i met i killed twice, but i was abusing strafing and runthrough as best i could and i guess he couldn't counterstrafe well enough.

When it comes to mauler vs mauler, then template plays one part, like someone said. Perhaps an even bigger factor is what spec you have. The class is new and not everyone knows what the most effective spec is yet for killing other maulers.
A small part will of course be skill and knowing what abilities to use and when to use them, but i believe the "right" spec is what wins most fights.

Hope they nerf the shit out of that class, so noone will play it again. Sadly, Mythic seems to have fallen in love with HoTs and fumbledebuffs.
HoT and pbt on a class with Warguard and an rr5 that's a better version of warguard? /shrug

well i found a way to beat mauler (he was RR4 only but hell) last night on my warden

fight 1: slam (he purges) and ml9-10 combo than essence flames i loose horribly

fight 2: slam (purge) powerleak powerleak powerleak etc i win but use IP

fight 3: poweleak slam powerleak etc i win (some strafing as well to avoid frontal attack)

fight 4: same tactic i win again

so only way to win mau as warden is too spam powerleak from start to end at least for now

My arms kill maulers if i kill them before my slam ends and they dont purge. ive died to a few and ive killed a few. just like any class (i just hate their end drain ).

Thought 3-4 different ones, 2 of which must be Durrel and Kilsimba acting like pricks. Havent lost yet, but the highest rr was like rr3 at the time. Powerleak and strafing seems to preform nicely vs them... but a Polar Rift spam after a celerity charge use and backsteps had the same effect. /shrug
In time tho...those how know how to play/spec/template a mauler will b really hard and propably unkillable by 'normal' classes.

get em stunned and hit them as hard as possible.. alot of MoP and strafing helps alot on that it is possible, but tough.. i still find it fun to fight them because its a class that i think is possible to kill, but just need to find out how

At least maulers aint got a parry rate like 50-90% and dmg from 500 to 1k... :/

I killed 3 the other day one after the other on my warrior. They seem like free rp's to me tbh currently.

However don't think anyone got high enough purge yet. And in 1v1's i just outlast them or outplay them as it seems most just been exp pl'ed and got no clue on how to use the class.

You owned me good and proper on my Mauler last night, although in my defense I had dinged 50 about 5 mins earlier and still not in full template (mix of artis and epic).

Then about 5 mins I came back to see if you were still there, couldn't see you but a ranger jumped me, managed to get him down then you came out of nowhere, slammed me so ranger could escape. Was a bit pissed as it would have been my first bit of rp's with the mauler.

Still managed to kill a ns after he PA'd me later which earnt me enough points for purge 1

P.S. us Mancs should stick together, so next time u see me in rvr just gimme a /hug so i can leg it lol!

hehe, I don't blow goats, maybe its a tradition I'm not accustomed to.

I agree maulers are insane, right from being 50 with a half decent setup they can do some harm.

Just seen that Fayte is in your guild so I'd expect him to help a guildie out and not just some random add.

Will save fumble debuff in future for more higher RR enemies, I ike a good fight, not a walkover
