Software to reset Partion Tables?

It seems my partion tables are fucked :(

I can get a 1gb C:\ on a 10gb disk, and thats it.

I've tried fdisk, and partion magic. Neither of them work, partion magic says that

"Partion table error #113 found."

Basically, I have no data of value on this disk, so anyone know any software to just wipe the disk, all the data and all the partions clean ?

Yes, use fdisk to delete the partitions themselves. You have to delete them. When you format a disk, it doesnt wipe the FAT table, you have to destroy and then recreate the partitions to do that.
Oh, and the logical drives. Everything really. Zap the lot and start again.

I've tried to delete the partions using FDisk :)

I can't delete the Primary partion because extended partions exist

I can't delete the extended partions because logical drives exist

I can't delete the logical drives...... because I have no logical drives...... yes they don't exist.

So it's a bit fucked :)

yep, u need to create partition magic boot disks, then do it using parition magic in DOS, that will work, i had same problem at work few months back.

low level format will do jack shit because it's partioned into a 1gb drive, and "nothingness"

I'm pretty sure you can delete "non-DOS partitions" in fdisk, certainly thats normally the remedy for getting rid of a Linux install that you forgot to delete before wiping LILO, etc

not quite accurate because stamper is saying it says logical drives still exist etc etc. when they dont. I know exactly wot the problem is and fdisk doesnt fix it. As i said i use Partition Magic DOS bootdisks and it sorted it out. That should deffo work Stamper, otherwise your drive is bust. Failing all that rub a magnet over the cylinders im sure that will sort it. It worked on cassette tapes!!

Ok I can't find the low level format in the bios :(

I've searched through all the options.

Any other ideas? Someone suggested a program called "Ofdisk" but I cant find it :/

Stamper - DOS Fdisk is the way forward, or DOS Parttion Magic if you like pretty colours. Trust the Doctor.

Make some bootable floppies and boot from them. Then run either fdisk or PM from a floppy. You must have a clean boot.

Failing that (and it won't) look at the website of your drive manufacturor. They may well have some diagnostics apps to download.

Just thought - you may well have a boot sector virus. Probably not, though.

nah i really doubt its a virus, and if u read up you'd see i've tried both fdisk and partion magic dos/windows

but ta for your attempt anyway :)

I did read up.

Okay, boot from yer floppy and type fdisk /mbr to write a new Master Boot Record.

Reboot and run fdisk as normal, and again try to delete any logical drives first, then extended partition, then primary partion.

just tried that, and after doing it, I couldnt delete the partions still
