Its a general forum, meaning general topics are put forward and debated, some gaming related, some not. If I am wrong then I'm sure Ted the Dog will put me right.

No, self moderation clearly isn't working, the fact that we can have a conversation [albeit rowdy] about racism without needing it shut is testament to that end, isn't it?
I can't see Barrysworld worrying, between Bodhi & myself I'm sure we've offended more people than the BNP thread.

We don't talk about online gaming in here much because frankly, its boring. There's only so much you can say without it becoming a repetative cycle, this is why there are subforums for most largely popular games.
This is where we can talk about things that don't fit in any of the other forums, the BNP thread being a perfect example.

If you're really too ignorant to understand this, then take it up with Barrysworld, or your counsellor.

I remember the whole baby-talk thing quite well. It was surreal and difficult to read, it hurt my head.

Doesn't sound like much has changed, ever.

Now why in christs name are either of us still here, when there's television or sleep to keep us busy.

ad and all the other HLDM posters, why come here simply to argue and flame? If you want to post here post here, read the newbie thread and learn to fit in. THe sub forums are here for a reason, the genereal forum has been like this for years and isnt going to change because you dont like it. More likely you will just incite lots of flames and piss everyone off. God knows I wouldn't dream of posting CS related threads in here, I know the response wouldn't be relevent and it would piss epople off, whats the point of antagonising people for no reason?

I think the comment about children reading these forums is a little mute to say the least. My children know what racism is and quite frankly are more open to debate than some of the posts I've seen here. If you are afraid to talk about it then you drive people underground and you end up with 10 Bradfords. It was good to see the backlash against Le Penn recently in the French elections. I know some of my french collegues were ashamed to be french. By not talking you allow people like Le Penn in (and the BNP) and worse, give them legitimacy when you dont vote against them. Now voting there's another subject that pisses me off in a big way. I cant understand people who dont use their right to vote. We get what we vote for. Don't be surprised when some fascistic organisation come knockings on your door cause you couldn't be bothered and you dont "fit in".

Nevermind me I just have a bee in my bonnet about this sort of thing.

Maybe you've come across the concept of "education" ad-. The idea of this concept, strange as it may seem, is that children are educated about elements of the world and society they live in, both good and bad, and encouraged to make their own informed opinion about matters. That's what makes us people, you see.

Now, if you can show me somewhere in the "BNP" thread where someone is actually seriously advocating or encouraging racism, apartheid, racial segregation, facism, communism or anything "undesirable" like that (which is in itself another discussion entirely - as one could dispute your qualification to determine what is 'allowed' and what is not), I'm sure you might have even a smidgen of a point. As it is, I can't see that you do, to be honest.

The point of this thread was to show that posting about a forum sponsored by BW has as much right to be talked about as any other thread I have read on this "general" board, even the more controversial threads.

If you dont like a thread don't open it.

Perhaps we don't particularly want your opinions on how our forum is running? It's keeping us quite happy, except when AIDS victims such as yourself come in an start preaching about stuff no one really gives a fuck about.

Ain't nothing wrong about the HL forum :p We're a bit slower there... and ad- if you check... people do post in the General Forum about gaming - and would you believe it, not get flamed, etc.

Why, not so long ago I remember I started up a thread here about the best map/level in any game here and that went quite well I believe :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely General means just that, general issues, etc. So what is exactly wrong with talking about the BNP, or women's underwear, etc.???
