Good luck with it !!

I know how hard it can be....I stopped 8 years ago and it's probably the best thing I ever did.

The real test is when you have a beer or two..but don't give in.

Again, Good luck

I never! I wouldn't! I couldn't! I shouldn't!

Ok...i was gonna say "you stolezorz my stylezorz" :(

Also i think if you have a "thing", it's a bit of an entitlement to complain :D

Oooon-topic though, good luck with it, and remember, don't just say "I'm gonna quit!", just try, and if you fail, try again.

Being harsh on yourself for failing, especially on a bodily addiction(if any), is useless and only discourages you from trying again.

Yoda knew f*ck all :D

Best way to quit, and i've always said this to people, is to get a hangover of a century. But that's only if you're like me and you don't want to smoke at all when like that.

Last weekend was three days with only a smoke or two because of that hangie.

well, atm I've desided to reward myself every evening. "a treat of some kind"
the first 14 days.

ps: I'm going cold turkey, since i belive in a short detox period rather than drag it out, or even simply replacing your addiction

so i fell asleep on the couch and I just woke up and there's really nothing to do atm, and I'm dying to go out on the varanda and light up a cig.
but i wont!
it's odd tho' altho it's still a very physical thing, now the phsycological part of it is taking over more and more as the physical part starts to ware off abit, going towards day 3

I would say, try to replace the desire with something else. As Ez said, sex... or perhaps a carrot? hehe. Something that takes your mind away from it. But guess it is all down to willpower.

As said before, best of luck !

yep willpower is really the key here, since nothing! will take away the urge, all replacements really only "ease" the pain, and your mind really begins to play tricks on you, and your reasoning becomes heh, well borderline at best.

tbh the only thing you can trust is your conviction at this stage.

but the one thing i have to hold on to atm is: that nothing should have this kind of power over you, and the dificulty in it self is a reason to keep fighting it.

To the none-smokers, I've tried thinking about something to compare it with, yet i come up short every singel time, it's amazing how your body reacts when deprived of nicotine, every singel second, for days on end your body screams for it, your incapable of holding any line of thought for more than a couple of seconds at a time, before ciggerrets enter your mind, you become slow sluggish and hyperactive all at the same time. you also begin to suffer from "flue like" symptoms as your body goes though detox.

Just remember how much better you will feel in a few days/weeks and your body will thank you for it mate.

It is indeed for the better and you should be proud of your self for doing this.

Day 3 is hardest, after that it is poc. Well, as long as you don't go to places where peeps are drinking and smoking at the same time and then it's a bitch. Remedy, get fat and eats loads of dry roasted peanuts in that scenario. As the bitterness from that peanut tastes almost like cigs. Also stay in for a week. Yep I know that's gonna be hard but you will thank me for it in the long run :p

I think people do that because when they see you smoke they secretly want one, and your inadvertently rubbing it in their face. :p

its the one thing i always hated abut smokers is the "I have to have a fag" thing i mean tbh no you dont have to have one, i get a bit annoyed at people who have no will power and moan about it but when you see them all outside crammed under the tiniest bit of shelter on a day when its raining so hard some bearded bloke is boat building and its minus 23 i just think fgs you can really go without it cant you i mean come on.

Nelson Mandella gave up smoking when they put him in prison because he didnt want the guards to have any leverege on him, when i cut right down i felt so good about myself (especially at work on cold days knowing i dont have to go out and freeze my girl bits off) and tbh i hate smoking in the street i think it looks really common *snob* a nice fag after lunch and one in the evening does me very well ty but if im working all day i can do without the lunch one and if i cba at night to have a smoke its no big deal, i refuse to be a prisoner to an addiction...i simply refuse!
