Any castergroups about nowdays? Are casters allowed into rvr-groups at all?
How about thanes, after MLs and they got bodyguard etc.

What are the diffrent common rvr-group setups in mid now?

Still:
Healer *2-3
Shaman
Skald
Savage *3-4

(maybe drop a war in there)
or? :)

an opted' mid grp in this day and age is for teh :

1 Pac/mend (main mezzer + ae stun)
2 Mend/pac (main healer, spread heal, pr ect)

4 Shaman (ichor, ae disease, dot, root, shearing, end you name it)
5 Supp Sm

7 Shield tank with bg
8 Light tank with at least grapple.

Now you wanna opt it even more ? well ok here goes

1 At leats 1 seers should have EoY lvl 10 pref 2
2 Main mender should have croc form
3 Sm's should have Cs for lvl 10 abil
4 at least 1 member should have Ds lvl10
5 Have at least one Sojourner with at least ml8 for Fz (ml10 is great tho)
6 Tanks should be Ml8 Battlemaster
7 Have at least 1 Ml5 Perfector

and while we'r at it you should have 2 bots
1 Aug shaman specs & acuity
1 Aug healer Bases & haste

or just get 1 pac, 2 whatchama healers, a sham + whats avalible ;)

Most common rvr group setup eh?

Random 1
Random 2
Random 3
Random 4
Random 5
Random 6
Random 7
Random 8

Its like the lottery you go to emain yell for a group and sometimes the results can surprise even the most common emain user

I think a nice setup myself is

3 x Healer
1 x shaman
2 x savage
1 x warrior
1 x bonedancer

Thing have changes since SI. ToA made casters more group frindly (Well, they've allways been group friendly, but with ToA and all bonuses they've got themself a boost).

You don't see as many savages anymore. There's still a few around, but most groups look like this:

3x healer
1x shaman
1-2 (-3)x casters
1-2 (-3)x tanks

I havn't seen a pure melee group in a loong time.
BD's is also more comon aswell.

Groups move with skald speed, healer/rm speed + sprint or skald outside group providing group speed with a AE speed spell.

base of grp which never ever changes:

3 healer (1 pac/mend, 1 mend/pac, 1 mend/aug)
1 shaman

the only good thing about toa is you can variate the remaining 4 slots

usually 2 tank 2 caster or 3 tanks 1 caster

zerk/svg
zerk/svg/skald (but skalds are not that wanted anymore)
bd/sm/rm
bd/sm/rm

we tried 2 svg - 1 warrior - 1 bd, 2 zerk 1 war 1 sm (this worked out the best due to banelord abilities, but bd/rm in fg vs fg would be better, taking out enemy casters with debuff-dds or instataping > sm lt/dd)

so there isnt such a fotm setup anymore, get 4 tanks/casters and with proper support you will roxor :)

Hey that group setup looks familiar...

Oh, its what we're running... :D

Shield tank is a kobie warrior, sure he has a little less weaponskill, but blocks more due to higher dex... Also, seeing he's a kobie, makes him blend in more with the SM's...

The light tank we decided to run with is a Beserker, as I personally still expect a Savage nerf inc soon... And having to re-level sucks :)

We didnt go for a croc-form though, our entire group is fitted with Scalars, only need 6 more full books of Tales though :(

The reason we didnt go for croc form is the fact that we're not expected to RvR for yet another 1-2 weeks... Now, you might wonder why that would be a reason, well, 1.70 isnt 'that' far away, and with 1.70, the corc-form nerf comes... Would be a shame to get a (rather hard) to farm&level item for less then a month...

Both our tanks are Battlemaster, we'll see how this goes... Might respec the light tank to banelord, but dont think that'll happen...

All our healers are soj... Why? More then 1 perfector isnt really needed in a group, in fg vs fg fights you hardly ever have time to plant fop/foh, and even then, between most fights there's often 5 minutes... So fop/foh will be up by that time... (as you guessed it our shaman is perfector)

Everyone in the group is ML9 except the warrior (ML8)... We'll all be wearing fully sc'd toa'd armor... All healers are wearing EoY... Pac healer has 26% duration on his suit and 8% range... All healers & shaman have more then 30% power on their suits... 10% cast speed, bla bla bla...

Cant wait till we hit RvR... Now if everyone in the group stops going on vacations ! ;)

we are the only guild that used to have a skald in group i have to admit.
Netcode (rr10) and Sett (almost rr10) worth their positions in group and we still have 2 more expirienced skalds (Tunia and Semaka) who are offline atm.

so well equiped and skilled ml9 sojourner skald is welcome in a group.

I dont think they r gonna switch any class in their grp. Well they started with that setup at lvl20 (lvl1?) and havent even tried it out in regular rvr.

Beside BD is more power consuming than sm and at low rr and thus sm gives a better output. But i dont think that 2 supp sm r needed in grp anyway... with capped dmg/speed 1 sm would be able to do about the same job, however 2nd sm could be speced into dark to decent ranged dmg, debuffs etc...

whats the best thane spec for group then? 42 shield 44 weapon 40 stormcalling?
39 weapon
42 shield
48sc for the final DD
rest parry

Works well for me. Can caster assist for 2-300 a cast, guard, do reasonable hitty damage, need to respec battlemaster though as i stupidly thought stormlord would be fun :(

SM's are alil less usefull in NF since pbae spells wont penetrate walls/doors anymore, but will ofc work as well as ever as long as you stay away from keeps/towers.
Thanes will probably rock in NF - its a caster in chain with archer immunity^^ that has highest delve aoe-dd in mid(163), and as fatty has shown they can get pretty nice castspeed with strong toa'ing.

Yes, you PBAoE through doors/walls all the time atm :touch:

I've been playing an Ice Wiz for a LONG time, and pbaoe'ing through walls wasnt exactly a large amount of my play time... And even then, I can think of so many ways to defend a keep without this ability...

It was nice in the 'old days' though, when people didnt expect an alb pbaoe'er behind the door :D

I doubt the group improves by removing a strong (PB)AoE dmg-caster and placing a single target caster in its place...

I might not have played with this mid group in rvr yet, but I've played similar setup in Albion... This group has more utility then the alb group can ever dream off... The only thing I'll miss is the theurgist...

If we where to run a Debuff-assist group, then a BD could indeed replace a RM, but not in the group we have and not with the playstyle that I want...

And for everyone that thinks NF will change this, I very much doubt it... This group is excelent at defending keeps, you might not be able to hit through walls, but your enemy cant either... Not very strong in attacking though, but I never liked that anyhow...

And we started at level 1 :) New accounts, so no /level 20 for us when we started...

With the thane being on one of the lowest ws tables in the game those 3 ws will only make a negligable difference. Parry is useful PVE and against dual wielders though.

Although it's all to do with play style really. There are a number of successful thanes who drop shield down to the 30's for the positional stuns and raise weapon to 50 although this is most useful with sword for ragnorok.
