Sport for the next few weeks. Well, I suppose there is the Ashes, and the Tour de Drugs en la France. But does anyone really care? I for one don't. In a few weeks time the arrival of the pre-season friendlies and it's all back to normal. I am almost sure that the Americanisation of Continental Europe and the US obsession with sport is slowly infecting us all.

But what I want to know is, how many of you actually don't give a flying stuff about sport at all? It seems almost frankly weird not to talk about sport in some measure. But I am sure that some of you here don't talk about it. So what is it that you talk about instead?

You complain about the Americanisation of sports culture in Europe, but don't care about the Ashes? :(

I just hope my digital is set up in my new flat in time for me to watch it, I used to love lazy summer days just watching cricket. Pah! So annoying they don't have it on terrestrial!

Excuse me? I don't see a complaint, I see an issue to debate, the question was at the end. I like sports, the debate is aimed at those who can first, read, and second understand a question when it's asked of them :p

The Americanisation is concerned to the way that we are all becoming obsessed with sport in our culture ;)

I don't actually give two tosses, one toss perhaps in passing if someone is talking about it or asks me about it.

It's "ok" to watch some sports, but wouldn't be my first choice for time-killing. Only if nothing else is on and i've got nothing else to do.

I just don't care, at all, about how some group of people is superior to another group of people in kicking a round object, or hitting another round object with sticks :p

Otherwise, talks are dependent on company. Games, movies, shows, random crap, how the world is, should be and what am i doing now/should be doing with writing stuff, game designs, what should be done etc.

Cricket is pretty much the only sport I care properly about. The rest of the time I dont really give a toss about what sport's on! Luckily cricket is now a year round sport there's always something to interest me...

Find it boring most of the time except the Olympics.

Nice link Marc Queensland won last year in a good match. A few of those clips showed some pretty illegal tackling. Lots of shoulder charges, one spear tackle, although most were ok with body horizontal.

There are still a few sporting events to come this summer:

Tri Nations - proper rugby ;) Starts in two weeks.
Engage Superleague still going
Telstra Premiership
The Open
The Ashes
Tour De Drugs

As for the Olympics, yes it has some good action but some of the events are not even proper sports imho. How anyone can call throwing a ball in the air, rolling three times to a position to catch it and all the time gyrating to disco music a sport! Clever, yes but you may as well have Olympic Cheerleading as an event. Same with Synchronised Swimming. At least the Olympics may redeem themselves with the addition of Rugby 7's.

I like MotoGP - anything combining racing & speed with motorbikes.

Golf I find to be THE singularly most boring "sport" (leisure activity) ever to be televised. Now if they televised crazy golf with exploding windmills...

Hate football with a passion.

Love martial arts (obviously).

Have to agree, MotoGP rocks at the moment. Also UFC have a great PPV coming up, I am hoping for Lesnar and Bisping wins. :)
