Yep, got assaulted by a member of staff of the great British fast food branch of Burger King last night. Here's what happened........

I went to the Burger King in Liverpool and I only asked how much a burger because I hadn't been to one in years The member of security told me I should just order and that he was sick of 'dickheads' like me, I wasn't being sarcastic or insulting. So I ordered my burger, ate it and then went back in to ask for the guys name as I am going to be making a complaint about the member of staffs behaviour. The manager came out and then accused me of insulting a member of his staff. Which obviously I hadn't. I said how in the hell could I have insulted a member of his staff when all I did was question the price of something and at £1.39 I believed it to be rather pricey. At that moment the same member of security picked me up and threw out of the building and then threatened me with the police if I were to come back.

Something amiss here? Well only an official complaint to the company which I will be doing in due course.

o_O surely there was more to it than that

You more than likely came in the same time as a grp who were causing trouble and got associated with them as someone complained to the manager about abuse beforehand so something must have happened

Personally i think Dukat snuck in with you and made a fuss about there being no real bacon

Should've called the police there and then and gotten them to ask for the video tapes. If they didn't allow them to be released, any sane cop would've known there was something fishy going on.

Otherwise this'll just end up happening again...

You don't get thrown out of a BK for asking the price of a burger

You sure you weren't mouthing off, drunk, or with a bunch of arsehole mates ?

Actually i was one of 3 customers in the building at the time, and I was alone. This is actually what happened and I did nothing to provoke this >< Any letter of complaint written, someone can expect their job soon :)

Nope, the only the thing that could have possibly been taking the wrong way was the tone of astonishment that I made when repeating the price of the burger back to the member of staff. Even that hardly warrants what happened.

If you do send off a formal complaint, will be interesting to hear what - if any - response you get back from BK. Did you make an allegation of assault to the police immediately after ? Its going to be difficult to prove anything. The CCTV might show something, but they're not going to be in a hurry to dig them out. At best I reckon you can hope for a standard letter template of apology (c:\BKLetters\Apology\Assault.doc) from BK and a £20 voucher. Good luck tho

What time was this?

Was it a high street buger king?

I worked in a high street bk for almost a year doing nights for when the pubs and clubs kicked out, threats, verbal abuse, customers trying to start fights with one another, customers making innapropriate comments to staff and customers, vandalism, theft etc etc

Im not saying what happened was in anyway your fault or infact that you where even in the wrong as i was not there, however if it was late at night the staff tend to be a bit tired of people complaning about the price who are usally drunk (not saying you where), so they can fly off the handle easily, god i wish we had security when i worked at my place........

So that constitutionally gives you the right to treat people like shit? Excuse me, yeah, I had been drinking but that doesn't mean all my marbles had left my brain and all of sudden I didn't understand what it takes to be a human being and to treat people with the same contempt as I was treated. In real life I am polite, courteous and respectful of peoples views even though I may not agree everything that someone says to me. You need to understand that the way I was treated was unacceptable and I deplore anyone that condones that level of behaviour no matter its seemingly wanting justification. They were out of order, accept it.

You should have called the police, if you did not then you do not really have a leg to stand on. I suppose you could still file a complaint with the police and hope they go and request the CCTV.

I am concerned that some part of you knows you did something you did not tell us, because I cannot understand why you did not contact the police straight away.

The CCTV won't have audio and they could just state he said they were all a bunch mofo scammers for their prices and sucked horses dicks! The Police won't do shit without witnesses to the verbal exchange.

Write to Burger King though, as said above you should at least get a voucher. Also if the branch has a history of this it might be a step closer to them loosing their franchaise.

The sceptic in me cant help but think there is more to this tale than meets the eye. You were drunk so first off you may have come over more brash than what you believe. I dont know how many times me or my mates have got into trouble thinking we werent being rude but looking back were

Its also so easy to make an assumption without being there or hearding the other side to the story

It was clear I was going to get nowhere by simply consulting the manager on this one. Thus my intention was to bring it to the attention of him or his regional manager at a later point. I have a stinking feeling that very little will be done now that I have sent the complaint to the UK office. IE, they will blame the security firm, have the guy moved on to another site, and then send me an apology with some vouchers to show their physical means of apology for my inconvenience.

Cynical yep, but predictable response from a conglomerate.

And you would want everyone to be fird, the place shut down and a percentage to be given to you of all future burger related sales?

What DO you expect?

No, but I expect some form of disciplinary action taken by the company to redress this matter and to stop it happening to anyone else in the future. At least by doing something, that sends a signal to company that something should be done about the behaviour of their staff and who they outsource as their security.

Considering if i went to sainsbury's and can buy a whole box for less err yeah actually, it's not like you are getting anything special if the average customer service is like zero or in my case, running negative public service.....
