As many of you might know, i had an interview two weeks ago for a game designer position. Perfect job, dreamy and creamy, almost "soil your pants" good position.

Now, i'm usually the kinda guy who looks at things when the situation comes, don't stress about anything really, live life enjoy and all that nice stuff. Basicly, live it as it comes. I ALWAYS say, don't stress too much, just see what comes and then act accodingly.

If i get the job, i'm gonna have to leave my life around here(partly) as the job needs relocation, i have to find an apartment, do this and that and it's gonna be a hazzle.

If i don't get the job, i'm pretty much f*cked debt wise and it's been quite "roughing it" life for the past year anyway.

So yeah, for the first time in my life(27 years of it)i'm about to have a nervous breakdown 'cause i've had to wait for 1.5weeks over this decicion. Blargh!

Pull it together man! :twak: time spent having a nervous breakdown is time wasted! Everything will be fine, stuff tends to sort out in the end.

Hey! That's what i usually say, "things will come together etc etc".

I lost my job and gf one time on the same month basicly, and still kept on smiling through and thought "ah well, that's life, could be worse".

Also been kicked in the head for the past year in such many occacions, that i should've offed myself allready.

that's why i'm a bit "errrrrr?" about actually having a stress attack.

You know, when you say it like that..."Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! They're coming to get me!!!" :D

Yeah, i guess it's just the "it'll change your life no matter what!" side of the whole deal that's actually managed to get even me to stress about it.

And Vlad, about spoiking something, mind if i borrow your girl? :sex:

Just keep on remembering, stress is one of, if not, the most pointless emotions .

Okay so you stress out which makes you worse towards the thing you were initially stressing out about and in long term, really hurts your health.

I think you're the sort of person who can draw a line and say, "what's the point?". Here is such a time ;)

Funny enough Everz, failing isn't what i'm "stressing" about.

Thanks for the luck all, well, twentieth time's the charm i guess(yes, i've looked for job a lot this year) and if not, i'm just gonna have a whiskey, listen to AC/DC - "Have a drink on me", go to a pub and get plastered and the next day...hunt for a job again :D

My stress luckily, when it happens every 20 moons or so, passes rather quickly as i DO tend to draw the line way back and just go "Meh, it's no biggie".

Whenever something bad happens to me, I remind myself of the days when I got sheared by Daemyrthestout and wish for a return to the old days of TT+TC Agramon Nights :(

It shouldn't worry you so much, I myself would be looking forward to meeting new people and being employed to do something I enjoy/make a hobby out of already! You'll find out who are the friends which mean something to you if they/you keep in touch.

If you don't get the job, theres plenty more to choose from. The game development scene is growing so new employment opportunities will come around the corner at any moment.

Stress is not a pointless emotion, it heightens your senses and makes you able to work harder and stuff like that... But it's not that good 1.5 week before the actual event :p

Best of luck!

The game development scene is growing so new employment opportunities will come around the corner at any moment.

That´s a common myth, but nevertheless wrong. The industry isn´t growing anymore. It´s about to implode. Companies going tits up left right and middle due to an overinflated market and increasing requirements of the product in terms of technology and ressources and low sales rates and mismanagement of the publishers. The job market is full of people with pretty impressive track records, but nobody wants to hire them, because the recruiting companies are either well known companies looking to fill a very special (and limited) position (requiring a special profile), or small semi-professional teams, who decided to give it a shot and play in the same league as the big boys, unfortunately not even remotely able to pay the usual sallaries. If you haven´t been in the industry for quite a while, being up tp date with the latest developements and trends and if you don´t have at least a marginally good track record, you´re gonna have a hard time getting into a decent position, regardless whether you´re an artist, a coder, a level designer or a game designer.

That said, good luck to you, Seel!!

Also, on what Thorwyn so pleasently pointed out, there's also the fact that game companies hire maybe once a year and probably never in mid-production.

Need to be right man, right time, right place and right right right :D
