Yes, most of it's the gfx engine. Part of the problem also is none of the character models are pre-cached in memory so as you approach an enemy force it has to load all that from disk (which results in the inital lag when meeting a large force head on) - some tweaks in a later version will allow you to change those settings (but ya need a ton of memory for it to work well). However end of the day most of it is down to shitty client, they really need to improve it if they want to realise their dream of 'large battles' being the norm.Originally posted by old.mattshanes

I had effects off of course, but I wouldn't rely on VP to kill that size of force. Its one shot each, even if you have several wizzies you might get some nice spam but you're not going to do anything more than be a hindrance.
