I bet he does it just before the next election, and will therefore have an excuse to stay in office even longer, by saying that they can't hold the election while the war is on.

He has 18 months left in office and can't serve a 3rd term, that means he has 12 months to get the job started taking Iran down or he can forget it. Once the Democrats get back in you will see the U.S. out of Iraq within a year and Afgahnistan in 2 years.

He can't do that, breaks the constitution unless it is all out war and mainland America is under physical attack.

The American government didn't provide them with a damn thing and that is what we are talking about here. Sinn Fein were allowed to fund raise in the U.S. because the constitution allowed for it, sadly they diverted the money to terrorists but my point stands. Iran is supplying the insurgents with ammo and explosives, we have known this for over 2 years, the difference now is that George Bush is trying to justify sending an extra 30,000 troops to Iraq and blaming the Iranians for all the bombings helps make it easier to sell the new troop deployments to the American public.

Isn't he sending 30,000 extra to Iraq against the wishes of Congress through some kind of presidental mandate though? Will be pretty hard for Congress to get a leash on him if he uses those special presidental powers but it wouldn't suprise me to see him try it on, his reputation is forever tarnished now so he may as well go out with a bang.

Well... they can do several things to stop him. The question is do any of them have the balls to stand up and say stop. Right now they are bickering like little babies about which piece of crap thing to vote on. None of the ones they are considering actually DO anything - they are just resolutions saying "we support blah blah blah". Both sides are scared to make an actual decision about anything because they are both scared that it will come back to haunt them in 2008 elections.

Bush said he wants to send 30k more troops (that number is actually bs because he was talking COMBAT troops and you need a bunch more to support the combat troops), but he still has to get the funds to do that. Considering the last elections and the state of our deficit, I don't see it happening. That isn't even going into the fact that our troops are exhausted already from back to back to back tours of duty.

I would say right now no one in the USA gov't. has a clue what to do or even the first steps to take to stabilize Iraq. They are all waiting for someone else to try something so they can say how shitty whatever we try is without actually coming up with any alternatives.

I wouldnt be surprised if a nuclear device detonated somewhere on the US mainland about 2 weeks before the presidential elections. "My fellow americans, im afraid im gonna have to use emergency powers and postpone elections until we are no longer under threat from these terrorists! God bless America!"

Anyone else find these "claims" always so funny?

"I SAY, that i "have" "proof", might have, might not, i'm just saying, that Iran is smuggling, in other words delivering secretly, weapons to Iraq. Now listen, I MIGHT have some documents, even maybe a photo of two, of this SECRET transfer of weapons. Or atleast some documents syaing that it COULD be so." :D

I had a sex reference to that, but decided to leave it out.

Or atleast i CLAIM i have documents with the intelligence of this sex reference.

George bush thinks the earth is only 2000 years old.

I realise we have religious types who use these boards but I think it's a bit fucking idiotic to have a born again evangelist running the most powerful country in the world.

Taken from danish online newspaper pol.dk :

Headline: Bush afviser krigsplaner mod Iran (Bush denies warplans agains iraq)

some place in the text

»Jeg mener stadig, at vi har muligheden for at løse sagen diplomatisk, fordi en stor del af verden forstår faren ved, at Iran har atomvåben«, siger Bush.

'I still believe we can solve this diplomatically, because a big part of the world understands the danger about iran and nukes'

Doesnt it sound more like he's got a plan? :D

Well it's not hard to know that there are iran weapons in Iraq, even the german "Der Spiegel" says that. The question is though, who sells those weapons. Is it the iran government or are those iran illegal weapon dealers.

The latter seems more reasonable, as the Iran has no reason to sell weapons over to Iraq. The current iraqui (spelling?) government is friendly towards Iran, as they're both shiites. That means that Iran has no use whatsoever to work against the current Iraq government.

By the way, an interesting fact. There is a person named Amir Fakhravar, who claims to have a lot of insider knowledge about what the Iran does. Apparently he's one of the people who are constantly on TV when it comes to how huge the threat from Iran is. Interesting enough, he's now known to any serious Iran expert over in the US, which means that his story is very very doubtful. But of course, it suits the Bush government well.

George bush thinks the earth is only 2000 years old.

I don't get your point =) That sounds a lot like just mixing up stuff to me =) Can we have quotes please?

Heh, I still can't believe how thick those people are for re-electing the ****, rather than having him assassinated a long time ago. The current American government will do anything to fill their pockets while sowing terror all over the world, and acting like pretentious ***** out there to save some country or another.
How much better wouldn't America do if they were atheists? Or forget that, how much better would the rest of the world do?

No, I think it could well be true based on the fact that they have been supplying Hezbollah with weapons and training for years so that they could attack Israel. They are supplying the insurgents in Iraq with many of the same materials as they do to Hezbollah, more importantly they have a huge established spy network in Iraq and those spies are feeding the insurgents information on potential targets. This was partly proven last week, a junior health minister in the Iraqi government was arrested for providing ambulances to the insurgents so that they could move weapons and people around bypassing checkpoints and roadblocks. There are plenty of Shia muslims in the Iraqi government and civil service, the problem is the the majority of Iraqi Shia muslims are very pro-Iranian and would like nothing more than to see them grab control of Iraq. Saddam was a Sunni muslim and kept the Shia in check, he held the Iranian's at bay for over 2 decades and now that he has gone there is nothing apart from the American and coalition forces standing in Iran's way.

Mark my words, once we pull out a civil war will erupt and Iran will supply the Iraqi Shia with more than enough weapons to wipe out the Sunni muslims, thereby achieving control of Iraq by proxy.

Considering that this administration fabricated the evidence to go into Iraq, I don't think anyone will believe them about Iran (but then the American people have proven again and again that they are that gullible).

The information coming out in the Libby trial is amazing. It basically confirms that Condi didn't stand up to Cheney (huge ties to big oil) and Wolfowitz (neoconservative Zionist jew, former dep. sec of def and current head of the world bank). She should have demanded the info that the CIA was telling them was false false false be taken out of the State of the Union address, but she didn't. The more I hear, the more it sounds like Cheney just lets Bush think he is running things and Bush is too stupid to know that his strings are being pulled. How can Americans not see that the people who are really in charge of the country have huge conflicts of interest with what is actually good for the country?

The born-again Christian thing is bs really. He plays that up for the conservatives in America. They play up the same issues every election to scare the conservatives into voting. His actions are hardly Christian.

I kinda think that the Iran and N. Korea stuff coming out this week is an attempt to divert our attention from the Libby Trial.

Or Cheney killed off Anna Nicole Smith ! (you all probably don't know but we are having 24-7 Anna Nicole coverage here...zzzz)

Wiki said:
Around 1986, Bush and friends have stated that he became a teetotaler, began studying Christian philosophy, and started participating in church and community study groups. According to Bush, following a personal meeting and exchange with Reverend Billy Graham, he became a born-again Christian.[14]

Imo, religious types should not be given a position of power such as president of a country such as America. Not out of pure spite but out of the simple fact that simple decision making and logic is clouded by religious beliefs. Hell as far as I know, he stated he invaded Iraq because "God told him to".

He's the ruler of an immensely powerful nation, and yet his decision making process follows christian dogma instead of actually sitting down, bloody thinking about it, and making a logical decision based on facts, instead he says "Oh yeah, god told me to do this, so I did".

It scares me that he'll follow christian ways to rule a country. This should NOT happen, it should work based on facts, economics, etc etc etc.

Well born-again christian doesn't mean that he's the reincarnation of some other guy if it's that what you meant.

Let's take it from the other side. What would I - being a christian - do wrong when leading a country? Who told you that god and logical decisions exclude each other?

Aren't you maybe mixing up "one idiot" with a totality of people? By the same reason I could say that "no black person should ever become president cause down there in Africa they don't even know what democracy is".....would you agree aswell? =)

Well, you had to weigh the dodgy evidence against the fact that Saddam Hussain had been claiming that Iraq had the weaponry.

No idea why that keeps getting forgotten.

It's not being a Christian, it's the extreme to which some in the US take it. A very large % think that raping the earth or a nuclear war in which everything is destroyed is ok, because at the end of the world the rapture will come and they'll ascend to Heaven (being Churchgoers, the rest of us are damned to Hell).

Now, some people think that this is somewhat dangerous thinking for someone capable of destroying the world and who is also standing in the way of protecting the planet.

isnt it better to be safe than sorry? its not like you just elect a person, then finds out he's a religious fanatic and say "oh lets just take him off the power again". you may or may not be influenced by your beliefs, but it could happen so its better to make sure it wont... how? by making sure strongly religious people dont get into a powerful government position.
