Just realised the spanish assignment I have due tomorrow is on the computer and I didn't post it on our campus net as I still had to read it over.. If I don't hand it in I fail the class! I'm tempted to just stay at school and do it all over again as I can't be sure my dad brings home a back-up com! I'll probably order some pizza and spend another 5 hours redoing it

Which will only work if HD is compatible, the easies bet is to get an external HD bracket which basically turns your HD into an external USB drive, bypasses the OS and allows you to navigate your folders

Heh? Nearly every MB these days has IDE aswell as SATA. Unless he's using a SCSI HD, but then it wouldnt work on your usb bracket neither. Haven't seen those in years though.

Or it would be that your friend has only IDE on his MB because it's from pre 2004 and Corknoise has a SATA HD. Then its time his friend gets a new computer!

The HDD may fit physically but if the MB doesnt support that set then it wont work. Ive had machines at work not fit into the lenovos we use. I can switch and swap HDDs at work due to always using Lenovos no problem but other manufacturers still arent universal. And also USB drivers etc wont work and network cards etc. Easiest thing is an external bracket hands down

What sparx? If it's a home pc with a sata or ide drive then it will fit in any other pc with a sata or ide drive. The only problem he could get is the file system not being supported by his friends OS, but that is unlikely with most modern os's.

Sure a 3.5inch drive wont fisically fit into a 2.5inch (laptop) bay (duh). I never heared of a HD not beeing supported by a MB. It happends with memory all the time, but HD's?

The problem might be with the Lenovos tbh. What kind of computer are they?

You then have to think about USBs etc, they wont automatically work. Go on try it

Network cards will have to be reinstalled etc, its one thing to have the OS running its another thing getting everything else working

Also other pieces of software like Word etc will have a field day and not work as it will notice the hardware has been tampered with, things in the regedit wont add up

This is something have had to deal with on a weekly basis at work

ahh unless your talking about adding it as a slave drive. Just make sure you identify which drive is drive 0 and which is the slave properly or else OS will conflict on each drive
