A friend just texted me going gooey over his new iphone. Have you got one yet, he says. LOL

I don't like the idea of being held in an 18 month contract just to get an iPhone. Goodness knows how much they are SIM free. No price announced on Expansys yet.

And dunno about you lot, but I get bored of phones pretty quickly. In the end I just end up using the phone, SMS, camera occasionally, and the calculator once in a blue moon. Thats about it. And the second you buy a phone, something better comes out that you wish you'd got instead.

I actually quite like the Sony Ericsson W960i. Its got USB connectivity (Sony Ericsson W960i Walkman Description - eXpansys UK). I don't think the iphone has.

The iPhone Fashion over function, its feature set is nothing a cheaper phone cant do. I have just got a N95 8gb. I walked past the o2 shop yesterday and there was 2 people in there signing up for the phone (i think) people are prolly more likely to wait for the hack before buying one.

But it has some other problems like the fact if you stop your o2 contract after the 18 months the phone stops working unless you hack the phone. Also the o2 deals are rubbish £35 for 200 minutes. Also i do not think you can swap the battery out?? so if it breaks you ship your phone to apple and pay £80 like for an ipod?

Plus im not a fan of touch screen phones without any form of keyboard i would rather get a HTC Tytn 2

The UK iPhone can already be hacked to to remove sim lock by downgrading the firmware on it. The only problem is you void the warrenty.

I have read alot about this phone and been in massive disbelief at the hype im not a ipod fan boi so it dose not interest me and as a phone it is lacking. My phone can do the internet at 3.6mb not 128k how is the iPhone the first internet firendly phone

I read it will only have French Interface on it. So either reflash void warrenty or learn french

From what i have seen about the US iPhone SJ gets money every month from every contract so he will not want these making it to the UK as thats money from his pocket.

Now all Microsoft need to do is up their game on Windows mobile software UI, and PDA's could well steal the show

The HTC Touch is a windows mobile 6 device with this kind of flashy AI. The early version are not great but the new one with a slide out keyboard is supposed to be nice. But you are right LG have also released a big touch screen phone its just a shame i hate them as they have potential.

motorolla, samsung, Sony E, Nokia,

I'd have to say that nokia wins hands down, the other brands have some cool things from model to model, but when it come to consistancy in quality "over the board" nothing beats nokia..

my new inc phone will be an N73. Yes it's "last year" but i cba to pay for the "new shine" models.

Which one do you have i use a s710 and a tytn 2 and neither are slow and if you think the keys are too close you either have big thumbs or are clumbsy . I have fat thumbs and both devices are easy to use.

I have always liked Sony mobiles, but after using the k850 for a week i was really dissapointed so have gone back to a Nokia for my weekend phone.

They do take alot of getting used too at first i could not hit the space key with out catching a few others . This is the beauty of mobiles though if you hate this one enough there is alot of choice out there to change too.

aye me too, my current is a K610i and i dont have too many complaints, exept the space bar button being the far bottom right, and that they "brake" alot easier than nokia's do. They do have the best sound tho imo.

i use a (some what battered) MDA vario myself (well i would use it if i had not lost the battery)

And tbh when i had to use my older phone cos i lost the battery for my vario i was really annoyed at using a old style keypad again, i think a fullsize keyboard is really neat feature, then again i have tiny hands.

I love my vario, it plays mp3s and movies, at least it will when i scrape together enough cash for a bigger mem card. Can run various emulators, play doom and quake 1 or 2 (tho it would work better on a vario 2 or 3 as they have a much faster proccesser) I can work on assignments using pocket office, if i want it to do somthing chances are there is a program out there that will do it, it has wifi,bluetooth and i use modem link as my pcs internet connection untill i get proper net sorted. The vario 2 and 3 have HSPDA or whatever its called so they can dl at broadband speeds.

Does a Iphone really warrent the cost when there are decent PDA phones that do everything it can do and more?

The above are just HTCs keyboard phones, they do various others that have windows on them that can do the same things.

Just a note if you do get a vario one or two it has a annoying bug that causes the screen to screw up all the time, fault in the gfx chip or somesuch.

Oh and if somone mugs you, you can use its massive weight to knock them out

TBH, I'm not a massive fan of the slide-out keyboard design. I would personally prefer a clam-shell design and where there is a larger screen. Basically, a PDA sized apple notepad, beautifully designed, ultra slim.

I got a Blackberry Curve recently, nice easy to use phone. It'll be great for on-the-go internets+e-mailings+internet providings, when o2 SORT THEMFUCKINGSELVES OUT!!!! Only annoyance so far is it doesn't have video recording on the camera.

One of my mates just bought an I-phone, found out through facebook..doubt I'll be seeing him very soon though.

I used to have a Blackberry from work. Really liked it. For the first couple of months. The instant internet / email was excellent on O2 to be honest, and was really really fast and responsive. But I ended up giving it back to the company cos I was forever checking work emails and began to feel like I was never out of the office. Now they've given me a laptop to work from home on. Now I wanna swap back to a blackberry. Its portable and means you can be in the pub answering emails pretending to work !
