Snakes that burrow, admittedly have poor eyesight, but they get all the information they need from other senses. All snakes smell with their tongue.

Oh no! While spinning a web is a pretty awesome feat, to protect themselves some snakes can spit venom up to 10 feet, hitting one eye eight out of ten times. Like I said, not all snakes can do this, but not all spiders can spin webs either.

Whilst Arachnophobia is the most common fear, there is somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 deaths from snakes a year. However, the Black Widow (arguably the worlds deadliest spider) has not killed anyone from the U.S.A in the past 10 or so years. More often than not, they do not inject venom with every bite.
Make of it what you will, but If i was confronted with a Black Mamba or a Black Widow, I know which one would get the sole of my shoe.

well, qouted you to say your point about the widow wasnt true

and no, didnt argue the rest of your points because they were personal point of views (very few spiders are venomous and spit that well. Alot, ALOT! of spiders spin webs)

You kind of covered yourself there that you have no knowledge to base it on, but its untrue as well. Both are effective like Lamp said, it's not something you can quantify. You could look on it in terms of weight of predator vs prey, but that dosent take into account how dangerous the prey is itsself and other things like that.

Only a couple of my points were personal points of view.

In any case i believe they are far superior hunters because they prey in diversity. ways such as traps - using their speed, poison, webs, strenght, mimicing other animals, Aggressive jumps and i could probably go on.
Snakes have different ways but not nearly as many as spiders.
To be fair both are cool animals, and though i favor one (alot more) i still see them as worthy opponents!

Spiders can make a web and chillax as long as it's there since flies, bees and other insects will keep flying into it and the spider can store it's prey

The effective hunters comment was a reply to the statement that Snakes smell. They wouldn't be good hunters if they stunk out the joint would they Didnt once say spiders weren't effective hunters.

I mentioned speed also in the MPH comment. Snakes are faster than spiders, (well, there is one I can think of that curls itsself into a ball and rolls down the sand-dunes which is pretty cool - over 30 rotations a second if I'm not mistaken?) not over web-distances, fair enough. CokeNoze seemed to think that having 8 leg's was better than having zero, which I think is just untrue.
But the fact snakes can still travel upwards of 10mph WITHOUT legs is pretty fantastic no?
Basically, if we set up a capture the flag tournament, snakes would be first to the flag and that is all that matters!
