Smoothest way to run 2x daoc on 1 pc?

I've got a pretty good comp. 2gb of ram, Radeon x850 256mb gfx card. AMD 64 3700+ etc.
I just opened my 2nd acct to pl a bot and was wondering how to get the most smoothness on my pc with 2 accounts at once. I'm running 2x cata atm, and it seems okay, although if I stick 1 char to the other, the one minimised/backgrounded will always lag behind.

How do you guys run your 2x accounts? With SI, or all options down?

2x toa clients, bb on /clientsleep background, /effects none on bb ;p

only laggs when i log em in, after a while can play both just fine.

Amd dualcore, or P4 hyperthreading

i run 2 on a substantially slower PC... setting CPU priority to background usually fixes LD issues, and if you still cant /stick...the ctr+alt+del and set the priority on the one you wish to /stick to "abovenormal" in the process list.

Use cata as my main and toa on 800x600 with minimal eye candy. Then change priority as stated above. Works great for me.

Thanks, I'll try that. Do you have to set the priority every time you open daoc, or does windows save your selection?

2 logical CPUs are must for running 2 accs lagless.

If u dont have Amd dualcore or P4 hyperthreading, you can install the windows xp 64 version.

I seem to be having a problem in specific areas. I can run 2x fine for hours in frontiers/toa etc, but if I go to the battlegrounds with a /level char + bot, I get LD's every 20mins or so on the bot (ToA) account. I run my main in Catacombs client.

I've tried /clientsleep background, I've got the ToA client on 800x600, and all the settings turned off. My catacombs is maxxed, 'cus my pc should be able to handle it. Is it perhaps due to the resolution of my Cata client? (1000xsomething. Its different to the ToA one)

I`m running 2 instances on a HT machine, P3 3,2 - 1gig RAM - Ati 9800 without any problems. HOWEVER: after a while (especially in RvR when my main goes for a long keepfight), my BB goes LD.

Running 1x cata 1xsi/toa without any problems on a 2.8p4 w ht and 1gb ddr1. Doesnt lag, but the absolutely smoothest way in my experience is simply setting the bb to /clientsleep back

I think its like that for everyone, when a character is inactive for a long time it just logs out

If you are standing at the entrance to the frontiers do a /face on 1 of the walking guards, works for me.

Well I'm running 2x Catacombs with almost max graphics (except shadows off) @ 1152x864 on an Amd Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB DDR, Radeon 9800Pro...Just set both clients to windowed, do /clientsleep background on both and set processor priority to background applications (I think it's my computer->preferences->advanced->click on the first button with options/configure->advanced->process priority to background applications). This way I can just stick my bb to main and never lag, I can alt-tab directly with 0 sec waiting so I can actually effectively play 2 accounts at once without lag.

I got a non-English version of XP so I'm not sure on how to get there exactly but you should be able to find it this way.

i have a p4 2,4 ghz, 768 crap ddr, ati radeon x800 pro whit all the goodies.

i ran 2 accs whit full cata gfx( cata models, water, trees, shadows, evrything maxxed) windowd 1152 x 864... no lagg no crap no probs alt tabbing too. only prob was no sticking( i could stick... but lagg pull in poc and other places got bit annoying. could stick whit normal running speed ok. but whit speed was impossible)

solution.... bought a laptop


oh yeah, you could run accs on seprate(sp) harddrives. that can help allso. i ran both on same, loading one was ok, loading second one after that was piss long

another trick to smooth things out is set the swapfile to a different drive than the game, ie game/s on c: set swapfile to d: rly helps.

oh and turn off indexing service on the hd properties window/s
