and the poor sods who work in the pubs/bars who have to breathe in the shit smokers spew out?Ezteq said:anyhoo it doesnt affect me so im not too bothered but i am sick of smokers getting the raw deal and folk treating them like mass murderers.
Ezteq said:i still think its daft though i mean talk about human rights, they bring out 24hr drinking and ban smoking..... err anyone else see this as a bit odd?
Ezteq said:well tbh if thats the case they should ban people from being arseholes because when i leave the safety of me humble abode im generally forced to work with them, listen to them and am totally unable to defend myself from there gigantic human leacheyness.
(i've tried stabbing them with cigerettes and spraying them with raid but nothing works, ban em imo!)
Naetha said:Personally I'm really glad the smoking ban has come in. For me, its all about choice - I want to be able to have the choice of going to a pub with my friends, and knowing that I won't come back:
a) Stinking of cigarette smoke in my hair, my clothes, my skin.
b) My eyes stinging and itching.
c) Unable to breathe properly for a week as I have mild asthma.
and most importantly:
d) An increased chance of dying of cancer caused by something that is out of my control and someone else's choice.
I don't care if people smoke - it doesn't bother me one bit that one in three deaths from cancer in the UK is caused by smoking - as long as it doesn't effect me. I've smoked, and I would never do it again.

It's what the smoking industry used to say for a long time. The idea was that the tests are conducted in a way which cannot prove that smoking causes cancer.Naetha said:Facts not opinion please - back them up.

Cancer is a mytossis(sp?) of WHITE blood cells.
Everyone and EVERYONE has white blood cells inside them so therefor we all have cancer inside us it's just a matter of time or luck if it starts.
My family have been smokers for generations, not one of them has died to cancer. My uncle smoked for nearly or around 60 years, no cancer.
My mothers friend on the other hand smoked for near 40ish years and had no problems with it. Soon as she gave up she got cancer.
It becomes a habbit and it depends on how your body takes it, if it accepts it then you can be a happy smoker and nothing will happen to you. If it doesn't then the result can be cancer. You can't blame smoking for triggering the cancer inside you. You CAN blame the people who get the cancer as all the warnings are there so therefor it's there problem. (sorry if I offended anyone with this last comment)
I can see why people want smoking out of pubs, as imo pubs are worse for you than doing class A drugs but doesn't stop anyone, and I do agree with you Naetha. It is disgusting and thats why I gave up.
I'm going to arise the argument now that they should ban drinking in pubs because it intises me to drink when I have to drive home.
