Sly techy question, disguised as a chicken....

Yes, yes, this should probably go in the Technical thread, but who are you to oppress me?? And besides, the people there are all scary and different and use strange words and speak too fast, where as you lot here are warm and cuddley and comfortable. Like old slippers. Or new puppies.

What does, DRIVERS_IQSL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS mean? Everytime I turn my back, Kenny's computer turns itself off, and I was beginning to think we had some eerie anti-technology ghost thing happenning, but just then I caught it doing it. Tricky bastard I thought, but I managed to catch that writing on the screen before it rebooted. Except, I have a *special* memory, that refiles things in a different order, so that might not be what it said. I once asked in a computer fair about the sun protection factor of a monitor or something, when i was instructed to ask about the SFP, not the SPF... or something. The fat weird man snorted through his nose at me and smelt strange. It was horrid, and people chortled. But I digress.

I know no more than that, because the screen flashed up really quickly before rebooting. Its been doing it alot though, when the computer is just left to try and download things, and Im worried because my brother has been using Kenny's computer, and I don't want him to have killed it. Not least because I become a computer widow whilst Kenny dissects his computer. Those lonely nights... Heh.

Anyway, thats my question.

Have no idea, but just wanted to comment that that's probably the best-put technical-related question I've ever read :)

Indeed, me too :)

At a guess, I'd say it's either driver or network related... but that's a pretty uneducated guess...

What operating system is Kenny using ??

Hmmm... possibly? Theres something on here thats Nvidia, but I don't know what it does. I don't want to fix it, because that'd be like giving me a scalpel and lettting me roam free on patients - it will be messy and there will be some very upset people demanding compensation at the end of it all - I just want to know if it's life threatening. :)

When I say IQSL those may not be the right letters, or the right order. I try so hard to remember things but they get all dyed the same colour in the wash :(

//EDIT: See, I sneakily ask these things whilst Kenny is on the commute home, so when he gets back I can say "Darling, the pooter has gone Lawnmowerman, BUT its ok, cos its just the warp coil transfuser out of alignment.". And then we laugh like at the end of the cartoon, and he doesn't throw me to one side to administer triage.

all i know is that i used to get that error all the time, and Win XP kept saying it was my graphics card, so i updated to the latest driver 28.32 and its been rock solid ever since.

but then iv also rebuilt my pc, checking all the connections, and reformated the hard drive and resintalled windows Xp but i think it was the drivers that cause the error.

edit/ do you also have a VIA mobo?

Just noticed the operating system question... he uses the tellytubby one and the other one as well. Its very confusing. He alternates them. I think he makes things deliberately confusing.

I'll throw that suggestion at him Furof. Casually mutter how it might be the drivers. Heh. He might even be impressed for a few seconds until he checks here.

EDIT:// Its IRQL. It just did it again :(

Pull out each component and then spread them out on the floor. Choose one that takes your fancy, any one will do, and throw it away. Then put them back together remembering to force the power leads in the wrong way round. Turn on and stand back for a pleasant surprise. Mines been rock solid ever since. Kinda melted together solid.
