got myself a 40" lcd and when i play a dvd the picture is pretty good,however when i put sky back on the picture is utter shite,i think the sky pictures are getting worse so we subscribe to sky.hd. anyone else think the quality of sky tv at the mo is shite? oh my tv is one of these..

Sky TV hasn't become worse. You just tend to be able to see the flaws of digital television more easily on a better TV. In a nutshell, digital = compressed. Some channels tend to have poorer broadcasts anyway e.g. ITV looks terrible compared to BBC.

Ive got one of those tellys only smaller. New stuff looks awesome, but older programes not so good.

I have Virgin cable, not sky though.

I won't be parting with any cash to buy into Murdoch's rubbish, then again i'm not big into TV. You can get into the HD market without touching Sky, which is the way i'm going.

freesat - the new free HD digital satellite TV service from the BBC & ITV (and not 'freesat from Sky') is being launched in "Spring 2008" which is backed by BBC and ITV as an alternative to subscription based satellite services. You will be able to get BBC, ITV and C4 (when the Sky contract ends) all in HD. Granted, there's not a lot in HD (there's not much on Sky either) but it will expand in the coming months and years. It's like freeview over satellite, but with HD functionality. Super.
