Dear friends. I would like to have a conversation concerning skald sword users. i would like to state from the beginning that i plan to remain sword since i love the sword thing. i dont mind if malice>battler. in the end the point is to get the most joy u can from the game at least my view. so my main concern is the following. ATM rr6L7 RAS concerning dmg-ws MOP3 and Aug str 3. Spec 50 sword - 43bs. when i started my skald in 2002 i got +1o str/con/char. So i am thinking. one of my dds with this spec is lvl 26. should i respec to 44bs rest sword-parry so i get last dd? i will loose ragnarok but since i solo mainly i only have one ragna use after mezz per fight. dds on the other hand r rarely resisted. My charisma is capped at 190. so base dmg of 26lvl dd is 64 and of 44lvldd is 106 if i remember well. main concern is to keep wp highest possible ( a single miss on skald hit is disaster) and also ensure higher dmg through dds.
would love to have feedback and a general discussion concerning how to improve a sword user skald. all views welcome pls do not mention me hammer better than sword since as i stated i love sword and i remain there

Tnx in Advance

My experience, keep sword at 50. Especialy if you solo a lot. In combination with FZ, Ragnarok is very very nice.

Btw combine this with Anger of the Gods :)

if you want to be sword skald you really need to be 50 sw cause of ragnarok :)

but if you ask me go for hammer ;)

low endurance usage - and really not too much damage difference

Weaponskill doesn't affect your chance to miss and the weaponskill you get from over 51 weapon(including + from items and RR) doesn't increase your chance to get through someone's defence(or very, very little).
You'll get a little lower cap damage if you spec 49 sword, but you wont notice any difference at all on your overall damage.

If you think you wont miss Ragnarok, but want as much in weapon as possible, then i would go 47sword, 46BS, 5parry.
The lv 46 energy/spirit/body tri-resist chant alone is worth it, at least for a solo skald.
The top damage add wont do a lot more damage than the yellow one, but it will make up for the damage you lose from having 3 less in sword.

And who cares about Zephyr+Ragnarok spamming when you can go Warlord. ;)

well 46 BS 44 Hammer 17 Parry is my current spec on my skald :) and i like it , DDs do 140-190 dmg on good ToA'd enemies , and i only have 53 in charisma in my temp , but you have battler , if you want more damage take a slower weapon , like Dragonfury (Dragonstrom's sword version) drops from the dragon:twak:

Good Luck:m00:

Same spec as me. :p

Dragonfury is only 0.1 spd slower than Battler and iirc, the damage bonus you get for a slower weapon, is something like 0.3% per 0.1 spd.
I'd rather have the 4 melee damage from Battler, unless he's capping that already. :)
Though even a crappy lifedrain is better than the Battler proc, but then he can't use the Battler charge as i guess he has that activated as a 2-h.

Depending on what classes u usally fight hammer could be good against
stealthers and vamps for example. NP had a good webby b4 with a list
with thr/sla/cru vs all classes. Cant find it anymore tho :\

Axe spec crap?

well skald champ weapons suck badly , so when they come out im staying malice on my skald cause malice> all  and sojourner is nice for in grp zephyr moccing caster/healer or whatever + waterbreath (yay) hehe and TP and stuff , warlord is more siege stuff as far as i know , but it has one good ability and that is warguard , the reverse of banespike for all the group , but for me....Skald/sojourner , the only way to go !:D

Warlord > Sojourner for soloing, imo.
Tried both and after the Zephyr nerf, there's not much left in Sojourner.

In Warlord you have some usefull abilities. 10% health/pow/end heal, pet scare(nice on thurgs pets or to get rid of a ML9 pet for a few sec), Cleansing Aura which reduces the effectiveness of DoTs(good against viper assassins and dot mines. I think it's on a 2 min timer as well), then you have the uber Warguard.
Once you've tried Warguard+Battler charge, you wont go back to Sojourner!

The most usefull stuff in Sojourner for a solo skald is Zephyr and Phase Shift. Warguard is on a 10 min timer, Zephyr on 15.
Zephyr is great against MoCing casters, but half the time it misses or is bugged, if you can even get a ground target.
Most of the Warlord abilities also affect those close to you, which makes it great for duo/trio'ing as well. :)
Sure, some of them may whine at you for not having group waterbreathing, but who cares. :p
