Skald and small-shield/onehander

At what times are the small-shield and 1-hand weapon a good choise ?

I simply cant see any reason to be wearing them, but I see skalds buying shields and stuff (and even seen one wearing it :uhoh: ... In Aegir but still )

i love using shield/1h sometimes in 1v1 when im solo in Sauvage
and the time u should use a 1h is against wardens because they got a annoying pbt and 2h against a shield class is also quite bad so i change to 1h if is ee one, this is what i do when solo and it works fine.

I use s/s because :

a. I can maximaze all stats i want
b. Shield gives a little extra defense
c. 1H sword are quicker e.a. i can penetrate PBT
d. I am there for speed not for damage. So my main concern is to stay alive to provide speed..

Plus, if you can fool some enemies into thinking you are a healer, and distract attention away from your actual seer, then your group wins.

i only ever use 1h against pbt.. also in group you can fool people into thinking your a healer (norse/dwarf) but then i found i tended to die easier than healers anyway

More people should look like Seers imo, especially Healers... Especially Norse Healers... especially norse healers with white hair and a tendency to cross-dress.

Use it for some of the reasons mentioned above, like pbt.
Also change to 1-h when i solo and me and the one i'm fighting are ooe. With shield i have more quickness/dex, so slightly faster swing speed and better defence.
May live longer and get in more DDs.

get a slow fucker and no quickness and youll be there for dmg.


ss is for solo, nothing else imo

If i compare my skald damage-output to my savage damage-output

Skalds are nowhere near with damage as to what a savage can do.

You think you needed to tell us that savages outdamage skalds? I think that had been established quite a while ago now.

Well, every group NEEDS a skald - and it doesnt hurt if that speedbot deals damage.

As ive seen in both chosen and Zoia ;x
