Sitting it out

Oh and squad-based play is basically zerg the base. Unless it's only one outfit doing a base there's so many other people there that it makes absolutely no difference to the outcome what you do. If you use tactics then all the other squads that zerged the base will get the majority of the xp.

Towers are actually a lot more fun than bases as you just might have two squads fighting each other.

Squad-based play is a lot better on defence, but nobody does defence for very long because you don't get the same level of xp as you do for attack.

The main thing that finally does your head in (well it did for me) is that there's no objectives apart from "find a fight and get xp".

For anyone saying "xp doesn't matter" well just wait until you come up against someone who is carrying AV, SA and MA weapons and can select the appropriate one to blow you away at any range before you can do a thing. All because he's BR20 and you're BR6 (because you don't have a 6 week summer holiday to grind out those levels).

Anyway that is absolutely positively my last whinge on this :D

On the bright side DC 0.35 is supposedly out this week :)

Hey there Xtro :)

Instead of whining about the huge outfits from afar, and flaming them without actually trying it, I decided to leave BR for a little while and try one of the huge outfits.

I'm in Sturmgrenadier, the BIG Outfit on Emerald/NC at the moment.

And to be honest, I'm really fucking impressed. There is a command structure in it that I personally can handle. None of this bullshit "Sir yes Sir" stuff, but some people lead and some people follow and that's the way it's done.

The outfit is basically run using a huge TS server. Each room is 10 spaces big, and once you join the room you ask for an in-game invite and you get one :)
Each room is linked using commander chat, which the squad leader is responsible for, and the squads are run by the highest ranking individual there at the time.

This lets you see a) What the squad you are joining looks like and b) Who is online.

Another advantage of this system is that specialist squads can be used to help basic squads. Last night (US time) there were two Vanguard squads (yes, two groups of 5 Vanguards) out storming bases and towers that the normal troops couldn't clear.

I guess this doesn't attract the "really casual" gamer. I mean, i understand that having your friends to play with is great fun, and I for one love seeing Cuba roll a deliverer down a hill and explode into flames.

But there's no rules to say I can't do this while I'm in SG. All I need now is for BR to let me play with them once in a while :)

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, please don't flame the big guilds, they really aren't as bad as you like to make out.
