Been riding for about 6-7 months now around 65miles a week (incl weekend rides and to / from work) This is great and keeps me resonably fit, but I have decided to work on my upper body as well. I brought some weights from argos yesterday and as I used to do a lot of weights when I was yonger I know what to do. One thing I have have never done though is sit-ups I just did 40 (2 x 20) and always died in stomach crunching agony hehehe! I will stick with it as fitness is something I have come to see as very important.

How much improvment in % do you see on the amount of reps you can do a week? And by Reps I don't mean how many beers you drink in a night Chodex :<

Get one of those ab-crunching frames, like you see on crappy bid-up TV, they are the dogx boolx and actually do work, no strain on your neck or back and you can feel the burn in your stomach within 10 reps.

The guy who runs our works gym is a fitness freak and he swears by them, we've got 5 lined up in the gym.

dont do sit ups, they're wank
do 3x10 crunches and then you'll go OMG sit ups are wank!
lie on the end of your bed with your head off the end and your arms back so the elbows are pointing like a thin triangle vertically. legs up with feet holding them in place, and contract your abdoman as you do one crunch slowly, all the way, DO NOT USE YOUR ARMS or INNERTIA to get you up, take it slowly, and by the 3rd set you should just barely be able to finish.

What makes me laugh about sit ups, is that fat people reckon they just have to do 100 sit ups a day to get rid of their gut lol

Id go with what Job said, they do work wonders. Or for lower abs, sit on the edge of your bed, leaning back a bit, put your legs together and lift your legs up and down.

Im not what you would call skinny but I am also not neive enough to think that will make me loose a gut :p I think the 65 miles a week rides will do that ;)

And no not horse back, cycle.

Sorry dude, wasnt insinuating you were fat or anything. I just meant fat people in general who want to lose weight.

Tbh, any kind of sit ups will help. If you dont have the gut, you will get a six pack easy enough

for 3 months I did 100 situps @morning and another 100 when I went to bed.

you can tell the difference after 3 months really xD

ps: once you quit doing them and start to drink beer until you can't feel your feelings no more (yeah what a sentence I know). you'll lose your sixpack quite fast :(
