what the world desparately needs right now is yet another Sims game !

On reflection, list you favourite "Sim" or "Godgame" here.

Mine was a choice between SimEarth and SimAnt.

That looks like an ok take on sim/god games. Although Peter Molyneux has a habit of making his games sound good when they are in fact utter pish.

Never been a fan of god games so I can't really comment. I have a tried a few but never got into them. I played the sims for an hour until I realised that if I kept it up I would be a sad goit.

Think I probably played the Settlers the most out of all my god games. I used to play split screen (something the amiga was really good at) with a friend and we thought it was great seeing your buildings going up and the resources on the way to the construction site. Just a shame the combat wasn't too great, could have improved that system.

Also is a shame that the sequels didn't really seem to improve on the game. I don't think the game was meant to be about combat, it was rather more focused on creating an efficient town and building knights was secondary. But the sequels seemed to leave the backbone as it was and add more military units and things which took away the fun for me.

Settlers 1 was definitely a god game but the later ones were probably more RTS style :(

Maybe Powermonger? Mega-lo-Mania was always a favourite.

"Tower critical!"
"Ergonomocially terrific!"

Used to be into Civ2. Quite easy to pick up and get into. That was the only one really. In some respects it was too easy at times. If you invested the money in the right places you could have the Manhattan project completed by the 1700's. Meaning you could Nuke the opposition into submission and control the world Muhhahahahahhaha.

Could never get into Black & White or Age of Mythology though

"Powermonger" on the Amiga... not the best god-game ever but I played it lots back in the days.

The Impression city-builder games are also quite good (well, at least Cesar III and Pharao).

Edit: LOL! Forgot mega-lo-mania - teh win!

Mega-lo-Mania was great. I gave it another go a couple months ago, it's available on loads of Abandonware sites. Didn't really get back into it, but was pure class back in the day.

Civilisation was good but whenever I got to the 1900's I'd just want to settle down and build up my empire in peace. But the computers would constantly pillage my lands, build cities in the cracks between my cities and park troops in my farm lands. Gave it up in the end because of that.

This was "solved" in Civ3, more or less.

This'd be a good thread to post your BW Sims family in, wouldn't it, Wijlet? I'll do that when I get home. :)

BC does look incredibly cool, as does Fable which he also has a hand in.

But yes, Black and White was a bit poo.

Wij's BarrysWorld Sim Family

Back in the old defunct Far Gate forum ( :( ) we had the Best Thread Evah running, in which Wij supplied screenshots of his BarrysWorld Sims family. I reproduce them here, along with Wij's original captions. :)

For info, I am SomeGuy, as I was known back then.

Civilisation in all its miriad forms and copies (Such as Alpha Centauri, Call to Power and this month Galactic Civilisation)

Civ III is just a joy to play but a little tricky at higher levels. In fact I've always got a game of Civ on the go, starting a new one every month or so and have done so since I got Civ I on my Amiga.

Actually I think I'm a bit of a civ nut :p

Only one I've ever really played is Civ 2.

Oh, I lie. Played Utopia for a couple of years, before my account got deleted for no apparent reason.
