silly duellers.

Err... relic raids are part of the design of the game. Duelling is not. QED.

theres no instructions in the manuel to tell you to take relics. its just if people want to or not, same with duels

There's no instructions on how to beg, kill steal or sneak into a non PvP area of another realm.

Doesn't mean its right does it? :)

kill steal, begging affect someone there is a victim in those issues. with dueler there doesnt affect people unless they involve themselves into it so just leave them be if you dont like it. the duelers themselves seem happy so why cause them grief?

People breaking up duels by actually (shock horror) killing enemy players is *not* grief play.

I dont like duels - to me its totally against the basic foundations of the game. You do like them - lets agree to disagree there no prob or we will be here until Shadowbane comes out ;). But - someone actually acting like its RvR and killing an enemy player is NOT grief play - however you look at it.

Someone already said anyway - if you do want to duel on EU then go somewhere deep in the frontier out of the way from the horde. As for doing it on US - well unless you want banning then you cant :).

Saw some gimpy duellers (hibs and mids) today in a ramble around yggdra. Killed the rezzers and stealthed off. The others went off to xp (together) - probably waiting for the rezzers to port/run back. What the hell are you guys doing fighting together damn you?

So I waited till they were all at half health mid mob fight and killed them.

Nice graves.

Unfortunately GOA caved and said 'no it's not against the CoC, but we may send something to kick your ass if you do it, we find out about it and can be bothered'. Frankly my opinion of this is that if they make it against the CoC they'll be expected to police it and

a) Don't have the manpower +
b) Don't make enough cash from this to justify hiring more people.

As a result, I <salute> all who break up duellers, preferably causing them an xp death. I may even spare you when I see you for that Cher. <winks and hopes no templar brings up the 'cute elf chick' conversation again>

I can never say Ive been in a duel and i dont really see the appeal but at the same time I dont see whats so horrifyingly terrible about it. As long as both sides conduct the duels in the correct out-of-the-way place and without the motive of simply RP farming then whats the big deal.
And XP killing people just because they were dueling... shame on you.

Read the post again..

I had left them alone after killing the rezzers, but then they started xping together. They deserve everything they get. It's a risk you take when out in the frontier (was told that a million times himself too)

I'm not into duelling. Having watched and not participated I can confirm that duellers in general are not rp farming but wishing to prove they have the best set up. I could argue that they get just as many rp's by doing a keep take after the amount of time they spend waiting about. I'm not fussed about it.

If you are a dueller be sure not to be top of the rp tables as no doubt you would be proud of your achievement but you would be easy target for people to claim you did it by rp farming even if you've got .05% from duelling. As melee classes are the participants in general there is nothing to worry about on that point.

That said I would seriously frown if a couple of healers and the same few people kept having a fight or even worse one person stood still while the others slaughtered them. That is rp farming
and why many duellers rightly so dont want to be labelled as cheats

Having said that I fully understand if someone finds a group of duellers and takes them as easy prey. Duellers should just deal with it and not complain.

I agree with the play the game as you want to play it and in a quirky way this gives duelling a balance. Pro Duellers Duel and get rp points. Anti - Duellers wipeout the affair and get even more rp points.

Didn't see it in this thread (or elsewhere) and I wasn't there so can't be sure ... but, I heard a couple of nights ago there was some duelling going on in Odins, Mids and Hibs. That in the middle of it some of the toughest types of guards 'suddenly' spawned and killed the duellers. People discussing it thought it meant Goa had decided to take out the dueling in a more interesting way than banning or warning players but it might just be that those who reported it experienced a mistaken pull of guard from pk. Anyone got anymore reports on it?

and also i wanted to state the fact that when i am all growed up i will follow the path of my old albion mentor jadow and try to stop all of these duels unless i am given a valid excuse not to.

Honestly, who cares what you do?? *sigh*

People will duel, people will RVR and kill the duellers, people will moan about duellers, people will moan about dueller killers.

...it IS NOT against the COC so get over it. Until it is listed as against the CoC you can expect people to duel.

I'm not against duelling - tried it myself and enjoyed it, although I enjoy being part of a proper battle more - can't beat the thrill of a charge. I think the term 'RP farming' is being thrown about too lightly - RP farming for me is two guys from different realms agreeing to meet up, then I let you kill me for the RPs, then you stand still while I get some RPs off you, ad nauseam. Now that WOULD be an abuse of the game. But single combat? Even pre-arranged single combat, as long as both parties are trying honestly to win? This is a dark ages/fantasy based game. Heroes seeking each other out, a clash of champions before the battle proper begins, respecting a brave enemy and letting him live... these are all staples of the fictional genre. Or you can be a murderous barbarian or a ruthless 'total warrior', this is an RPG, pick the role you want. Duel with your enemies, kill everyone you see, arrange a duel and turn up grouped with half a dozen shadowblades - the game gives you the freedom to do all that, and none of it is breaking the game mechanics for your own petty advantage, so have fun doing it.

Me? I'm not one of the 'foremost heroes' of Hibernia, so I feel no need to challenge the living legends of Midgard and Albion to single combat to decide the fate of our realms. I'm one of the warband, a grunt, a brother in arms, and the pitched battles are where I belong, not out there duelling. To those who do, have fun. To those who don't, you're quite entitled to kill all enemies on sight, and bring any sanctions to bear you can on those realmmates you feel are 'fraternising with the enemy'. You're both playing the game the way you want, and without violating the CoC.

Now quit whining, all of ya
