me and gazz where on our way to yggdra , when after we left the safety of our pk ,suddenly found to our amazement a bunch of mids having tea with some of our hibernia brethren, much confused by this behavior i rushed the nearest purple con mid <hey all mids seem to be purple to a lvl 23 shade> and soon was on the end of a beating, when i was suddenly told to stop it because people were duelling,

Not daunted in the least once again i tried to attack a purple con mid by the name of gmip, he mezzed me to the spot after my first attack took off 1/5 of his life, and had to watch while the duels continued,<oh how i wish jadow was there> these silly petty little duels continued till a hunter called uptres arrived and started to pick off the hibs, and in so doing stopped the duels.

So my question is simple.....why duel? does it prove anything?

and also i wanted to state the fact that when i am all growed up i will follow the path of my old albion mentor jadow and try to stop all of these duels unless i am given a valid excuse not to.

these duels were not how many people describe them, as fight till one person is near dead then stop, these went on till there was one winner, and one dead guy..ala rp farming

and as for the fun point, if i have fun constantly getting all the lowbies killed in muire tomb <lvl 12ish dungeon> does that mean i should do it? if i have fun harrasing people should i do it? if i have fun spamming chat in the main city or on raids should i do it??

<maybe i'm just bitter that there were no even con people to fight,,,,,or just bitter that people will get better through rp farming while doing nothing for there realm, or maybe just bitter that i'm a short luri while tall firbolgs get all the fun )

I believe that Mythic & GOA are anti-dueling as it's seens as RP farming w/o the chance of healers etc getting a kicking.

By all means take them out. Take out the healers first & really mess up their day.

If it works in an event context then fair enough, at all other times pick off anyone you can & it you get any grief make sure your chat log is on .

If u see a few ppl dueling and you dont like it - leave. Noone makes u stand there and watch the duels.

Death in duels happens, i dont like rp farming but seeing a fight or 2 end in death to the opponent doesnt mean they are rp farming.

And if ppl are rp farming, do you really think they are stupid enough to pick a place like odins gate? I havent been to odins once without running into another player, friend or foe.

I have been in duels 3 times, i preffer the normal RvR but was funny to test my Paladin against others clases of other realms in a clear 1vs1 fight. If a group of peeps want to have a little fun dueling is perfect for me. There are a lot of enemies to kill.

And you trying to kill purples to stop the duels? really very funny.
Hope you understand people can have fun in differents than u. You must respect it. I dont think duels are worst talking about rp farming than:die release and come to the RvR zones and die and release and again...

Was funny 2 or 3 time to do duels but i think i will not do more. That dont means i will arrive and kill the people who is sitting looking at duels or not ready for combat because there is a "pact". Is coward and not honour in that arriving and killing the duelers.

Umm i forgot to say im an Alb son of Camelot and honour is important for some albs. Not all is valid in war for us. If i see grays hunting i dont kill them, maybe mids do because they are far of be civilizated but i expect a little more from elves.

You people of the forrests are not killing machines, you are honour people too. Don't think only in kill kill kill...please.

Why can't you duel-ppl accept that it's Realm vs. Realm, not Player vs. Player. If I come to the frontiers to have some fun rvr and see ppl duel, I will attack every enemy I see.

If you want to duel so much, do it deep down in albion or someplace else where noone usually walks.

I agree with you in one point Melgar, duels shouldnt be fought close to amg or mmg in emain (where the most rvr battles are) they should be held someplace when you can duel in peace... but still, theres no real point in destroying other ppls fun just becuase you dont happen to like duels.
Im sure theres plenty of other poor hibs (and albs) to bash

1. Fuck off.
2. Do you pay my subs? No? So go to 1.
3. This is RvR, not quake - see step 1.
4. Its also against the CoC - see point 1.

think that made it pretty clear. Mythic CSR stamp on this thing immediately - you would *not* be allowed to do it ever on US where players get banned or suspended for doing it.

GOA have stated that Duelling is not totally illegal and they will allow it. If people want to duel, just let them.

If you want to break up a duel, just do it. It's your game and you pay all this cash to play it the way you want to.

Actually ... they said if you're a lame-ass dueler (oops, inserted some extra words there ) that you can expect wandering guards to kick your ass. The game is not about duelling, it is about Realm versus Realm conflict.

Can you imagine what would have happened to, say, British and German troops caught having a private duel while their armies battled it out? They'd be up for court martials immediately.

It is out of place in the game setting. When RP's are being harvested it gives an unfair advantage to those players -- because future patches will grant abilities based on that person's realm points.

People who want to duel should go play another game, or join the PvP server when that becomes operational. Until then - leave it out!

i started this topic, and haven't really said much since i was waiting for a good reason not to kill duellers, and from whats been said i beleive i have a balenced view on duelling now,

so in the future when i see duellers i will

1)stop
2)bow
3)try to kill the rezzers
<i say try because as pointed out mid 20's its hard to kill anything in rvr>
4)wait till the duel is over then kill everyone else.

seems a pretty balenced way of doing it.

you never know maybe someone will convince me otherwise. but currently i dislike all duellists.

as for honour us hibs have quite alot of it, since when you have around 200 people on the server at peaktimes everyone tends to be nice to each other, in the occasions u actually meet another hib

Well IMO Duellers can do so at their own risk.

If you duel, please dont get annoyed of GOA places 10 Uber guards next to you all with a massive aggro range.

If you duel please dont be annoyed if ANYONE feels the need to mess up your duel, they have EVERY right to do so.

Emain is not the same as duels, you dont see 20+ Mids /bow, /salute /kiss the 20+ Hibs before those 40 guys go hack and slash vs each other do you? NO therefore please do NOT compare Duelling with Open Field RvR in Emain

in essence the key message is Duel at your own risk

mages do duel, thats crap ill have you know

ive dueled skalds, heros, champions (ouch those sodding debuffs), eldrichs, warroirs, berserkers and many others.

if its a caster duel, theres no point in using spells (cause its gonna be a) quickcast some kinda stun then double nuke, or single bolt or somethnig like that) but we duel in another way....

STICK DUELS!!

its the rush of whos got hte better damage buffs, sheilds, damage sheilds etc.. cause its not like buffing us with +str is gonna help us with our wands is it? wand dueling is a adult game kids, the lucky chance of a proc, a possible miss!

anyway, its the only real form of fighting i know so stick dueling should be legal because its the only chance when in melee ill have a chance of killing my oppoent.

anyway, i like duels, nowt wrong with a little bit of fun, i pay my subs, ill play how i like to ta.

Just thought I'd add my two cents..

Personally I quite enjoy the odd duel (altho doing it regularly is likely just rp farming Baaaad . Duels for tank type classes are about the only fights we get to show any of our playing skills in since large scale rvr is pretty much f8 spam use anytime stye, repeat til messed/dead or victory. However given that I enjoy dueling, I have no problems with ppl who come along mid duels and kill everyone, damn right if they want to do that, it;s not like just cos 2 ppl in the whole server feel like a duel that everyone else must declare a truce, kill away, go mad have fun afterall as some ppl seem to forget this is a game, and we play it to have fun. We don't play it to simulate a war (as someone was implying with mentioning such acts warranting a courtmarshal) . We're here to have fun, now there's of course the issue of ppl having different ideas of fun, ie some like duels, others prefer to kill all duellers on sight... and the simple answer to that is.. you can't possibly please everyone, so just chill take it easy remember it's a game

This isn't WW2 nor is it real-life. It's a game that people play for thier own ENJOYMENT.

I don't really mind if peeps want to duel but if you're going to organise a fairly large duelling event pick a place that no-one passes through e.g. the fields opposite the PK's and along the zone walls AND NOT at the MG's. Picking an out of the way place to duel is stating that you're just trying to have a little fun and hope people will be mature enough to leave you to it. If you duel at PK's and MG's you're pretty much asking for trouble.

Also, I pay my subscription fees too but it doesn't give me a right to tell people how they can and can't play the game.
