How can anyone be cruel to an animal? this is one thing that i just can not get my head around, ok so maybe we've all yeslled at a dog to stop its insessant barking, or sworn at a cat after being on the business end of a claw but for the love of god, hanging? tying animals in a sack and drowning them? beating? starving? neglecting? burning with cigaretts?

If the day ever comes when i DO understand people who do that then i hope to god i fall over dead as soon as it happens because i never ever want my mind to work like that.

Ok I eat meat, i wear leather i am not against killing for food i AM against killing for sport (where the animal carcass is then waisted), being cruel and abusive, i believe if your going to kill an animal for its meat at least give it a nice life before it dies (i.e organic, free range farming).

I dont expect everyone to share my views on certain issues but i would never be able to understand any one condoning cruelty on an innocent being.

me too.
i only have organic dairy as well - the nice little 'story' on the inside of the Yeo Valley yogurt-outers about how well they treat the cows at organic dairy farms is reason enough.
battery farmed animals dont have as many nutrients either. i couldnt face sitting down to eat a roast chicken knowing that it was probably ill from living in the shit of other animals in its cage.

When we were in paris last year we saw this guy telling his german shephard off, but properly smacking it about.. before i even had time to get pissed off my mam was over there slapping him around the head with an umbrella yelling "you fucking frog bastard, die!" Only time i seen her that mad, thankfully. Was very very funny to watch tho

i really think that we need (and not just the UK, the european courts are so fond of passing laws they should do this) harsher punishments for people who abuse animals, at the moment in the uk its something like a fine and a ban from keeping certain types of pet, think

A) lifetime ban from owning any animal should be imposed (this would probably mean you need a licence to be a pet owner but if if keeps the animals safe i dont care
B) heavy fine that should be distributed amongst various animal charities.

Guess I would say that as a Veggie tho! Each to their own and I never criticse people for eating meat and my veiws tend to be a little stronger on animal rights issues than most folks (as you might imagine!) so I'll spare you those to save upsetting people!

It cant be called a sport. It stops being a sport when the fox wins a round by escaping, so they dig it out and shoot it! Such a 'sporting manner'.

its just the way i am i have more empathy for animals than i do for my fellow man, maybe this is because i actually like animals.
