Hi all,
First my setup :-
Win98
1800 Athlon XP
256Mb Ram
Geforce 3 Ti 4200 (using latest drivers - march 03 and not overclocked)
Creative Labs PCI128 soundcard (yes, i know i need a new one!)
HD defragged and scanned - no errors.
Onboard sound/graphics disabled.
And the killer...DX9.0a (needed it cause I am in the EVE beta!)
The problem - random lockups, and I really do mean random. Sometimes the game is stable for as long as I am playing. However, on days like today it just does not want to play and locks every 15-60 mins. Screen freezes, sound stops (does not loop), cursor moves but the only thing to do at this point is a hard reset (ctrl/alt/del does not work).
The problem is upgrading to 1.60, upgrading the graphics card drivers and going to DX9.0a all happened within a few days.
So does anyone have a similar config running without any issues or has anyone had anything like this and managed to fix it? I REALLY do not want to reinstall just to go back to DX8.x without knowing if this is the problem.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas. Here's hoping!
