Shrouded Isles England Fuckup

I ordered SI from Amazon on Sunday and it arrived this morning. The manual makes the original look like the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

To begin with it said 19th now its say, CAN ONLY BE PLAYED ON THE SERVERS FROM 20th, you get your copy 21th

I walked into my local Game this morning (Nottingham Listergate) nad picked up the copies I'd pre-ordered last night from them. No waiting for postmen, no messing around. When I heard about the possible delay in stores stocking them I looked at ordering online but play.com aren't shipping till friday and Amazon say 3-5 days so there wasn't a lot of point.

Hello everyone,

The process to update the servers for the coming of Shrouded Isles started this morning around 3am GMT and, as planned, the servers were shutdown around 7 am GMT.

As we briefly explained yesterday, the installation of Shrouded Isles is not like a usual patch. Many software modifications are needed but with them come many network architecture and server modifications as well. Our plan, as published yesterday, was a long patch day, with servers being back up late in the afternoon…
As you can imagine with the title of the news, we encountered a quite important problem.

We were supposed to receive the last files needed for the installation of Shrouded Isles on the production servers at the beginning of this week. These files are compiled and distributed by the Mythic's teams but, since the beginning of the week, a heavy snow storm is striking the area of Washington (where Mythic's office is located), preventing many members of their team to go to work and among them, the ones taking care of the patches. We did not receive some of the key elements yet and the launching process of Shrouded Isles is therefore delayed.

We are now facing two options :


First, we can follow the plan, hoping that Mythic will be able to send us the needed files this afternoon (around 3 pm GMT with the time zone difference). This would allow us to open the production servers with Shrouded Isles this evening.
The second option is to cancel the current procedure and switch the servers back to 1.54 today and wait for the missing files knowing that in this case, Shrouded will not be released today.

We picked the first solution and decided to stick to the plan. Our teams are ready to work late in the night if needed to open the servers with Shrouded Isles and the patch 1.57.

Of course, we will keep you informed throughout the day.

i ordered from game since they said they would send it day before public release, me thinking it would be here the day the patched the servers in that that case, since web site says they patching today i sent game email asking why i had not received the item, to give them credit at least they reply to customer emails on time. but they say there were not told untill late yesterday about the change of release date and unable to get stocks to send out in time, so i wont get mine till friday.

so looks like its not always case of just friday but if people didnt foul up release plans then everyone would be happy.

The larger chain stores "Game" etc only sell on Fridays that we know,but if you visit your local "friendly" indie software seller,they will have the game now and I know for a fact he'l be quite happy to sell u a copy,cos it guarantees your trade obviously...go try a Gamestation...they usually very "helpful"

GAME sell it today - phone head office (0870 750 2743) and check.

if your local store refuses to sell it you until friday, go tell them to phone head office and check, all GAME stores are selling today if they have it in stock (scotland ones, afaik, dont have it in stock until until tomorrow, well at least Dundee).

Got mine fine about an hour or so ago from my local store (Solihull) without much problems after telling the guy to phone head office.

Yeh. I'm gonna phone Head Office, and get them to explain to my local branch of GAME that they should be selling it as of the 19th.

Or, I could just be patient, not look an utter twat when I walk into my local game asking if I could get a copy of an RPG that I made Head F**King Cffice make them sell me, and possibly do one or two things around the house that I keep putting off.

Use this time to your advantage. Maybe do an essay better than you normally would, study a bit longer for that Maths exam that's coming soon or paint the fence like you told your wife you were gonna do.

Come on you llamas. Stop giving "g33ks" a bad name. Are you seriously gonna tell me that you need this game bad enough that your gonna phone the suppliers and make them sell you the game 1-2 days early?

You need to take a long, hard look at your life, then change it.

Well, I live in England and pre-ordered SI a fair while ago. It arrived within two days of ordering, and I've been playing it happily since well before Christmas.

I wasn't one to whinge about GOA, but my experience with Mythic support has been better so far and for that reason, I doubt I'll play the EU servers ever again *shrug*.
