P[ersonally, I would rather just have Sky than pay for a tv channel I watch as its bollocks. Only good things are Dr Who and Heroes(which isnt BBC made)

BBC website, BBC Scotland and BBC 5live is all I use the BBC for. I wouldnt think that much is worth £130 a year (or how ever much it is!).

The BBC channels are a tad boring, I'm just living off the TV on demand from Virgin just now =) (They have all 3 series of Father Ted!)

Voted no. I don't watch cable / satelite. But then again I don't watch much TV at all. The odd programmes I do watch, I find the BBC put out some cracking shows. So much shit on the pay-per-view channels. Matter of personal taste.

only decent thing the BBC does is the documentarys on nature and stuff. blue planet for example, secret life of birds etc. most of the other programs are complete shit. i can list some off the top of my head

eastenders
the so called comedy programs
bargain hunt
cash in the attic
car booty
youve been fried (or something)

how much money is spent on this bullshit, because it makes up a large amount of their schedule.

dont even talk about BBC3, the fucking thing is a joke. i watch it only because the poor quality of the shows is laughable.

dog borstel - lolerskatearific

honey were killing the kids - take a fat chav family and make them eat healthy instead of pizzas, wow what a show :|

spendaholics - this show demonstrates how people who spend a lot of money really are doing it because of a bad childhood. nothing but the best psychologists here

i could go on, but i wont

BBC had some right crackers back in the day.

Only Fools and Horses(before it got syndicated like an American show)
Bottom
Blackadder
Red Dwarf
Vicar of Dibley
The Young Ones
Are you being Served
Absolutely Fabulous
brittas Empire

See a trend, everything before a certain year, say pre 1995, was almost always classic.

Best shows I have seen recently are

Around the World in Eighty Treasures, Michael Palin's New Europe and Tribe. But they are hardly costing lots to make :)

I'd prefer to pay the BBC instead of paying Sky or Virgin Media for the privilege to having adverts rammed down your throat.

And just think - the BBC dont want to fund a Red Dwarf movie because they have "other projects" which are supposedly more interesting! =)

the point is here you dont have a CHOICE.

Its totally crazy you have to pay to watch a televison set, heck they are on your case if you so much as buy a tele from the likes of currys, comet etc...

Say for example, you totally and utterly disable all BBC channels from you TV, ie you never, ever watch anything to do with the BBC.

They still can, and will prosecute you for mearly owning a TV and not paying a "licence" .

its complete and utter bolox.

These days you could easily get by without a TV. Pretty much anything you want is available on-line - eg torrents. I'm sure you can also watch live sport on the net - some pay per view Sky internet site or something. Then there's the radio of course.

Not sure what the quality of shows like on BBC as i been away for a while now but it was generally not bad considering.

Though i got to say would love to see the end of DeadEnders!!!:p

You've still got to pay the licence anyway tho I believe in order to actually move that large LCD into your house in the first place..

If I had to pay to use the BBC services then I probably would simply to use the news website and the occasional show. It's the fact that if I own a TV simply to watch DVD's on and don't even hook it up to anything capable of receiving TV then i'm braking the law if I don't fork out money to them.

There's zero incentive for them to improve the quality of programming to match the other stuff out there since it makes no difference to their finances if people are actually watching it. That's what I disagree with!

If they want to do it that way, call it TAX and charge it to everyone regardless of if they have a TV. At least that way they are admitting what they are actually doing..

Yes. If you plug in your pc to the wall, its classed as a static tv.

However, if you have a laptop and one of those tv recierves that plug in, you can have it as a portable device as long as its not plugged into the wall :)

Its a joke, if I move out I need to buy a license for a tv I only use for my playstation and megadrive :/
