Recently my local spoons was doing an ale festival where they had a variety of ales on sale, with 3-4 at £1.20. Also if anyones looking for a cheap way to get drunk at spoons then double sailor jerrys is well cheap :p

Also, how many people here have never binged? Given that the government requirement for binging is drinking more than 6 pints in any given day.
I have never binged,

my personal opinion is that if you have to get shitfaced to have fun, then you have something seriously lacking in your life :p

Its not to have fun, its to make the fun more fun!

Watching a film is good, but its even better with a 60" TV and surround sound.

Have you tried it? your gauge of fun may be different from someone elses

Binge drinking in hilarious, till the next morning...

The negatives far outweigh the positives,

I can see why it would appeal if you didnt want to remember what you did or if you were somewhat shy and unable to "be yourself" (although you're not really being yourself just a over the top version which no doubt you regret later :p)

Ignoring the effects on others as they are pretty well publicised;
in exchange brain and liver damage (among other things), embarasing results and an awful feeling the next day :p

Doesn't seem like a particularly good deal to me

At the same time, all of these problems are deemed worth the trouble by others :) (including me, though I do regret it sometimes. Although I do regret sittin around being lazy just as much).

Half my mates HAVE to have a drink everyday, like 4-6 cans a night. They all say its their way of chilling out after a hard days graft. They HAVE to get smashed friday and saturday night too. I reckon they are on their way to being alcohlics myself.

not really my place to comment but imo they need a serious lifestyle rethink tbh.

Binge drinking.
Been there.
Done that.
Now teetotal.

From 18-24 I went out Thursday-Sunday nights and usually got through 3-5 pints at a time. Money was the limiting factor, not personal capacity.
I lost my job when I was 30. I was told at 2pm, walked out at 3pm and home by 4pm. I promptly downed about half a bottle of single malt whisky in 5 minutes. 3 minutes later it all came back up again.
I've never really been into alcoholic drinks ever since.

I live in a place where people seem to be about drinking far more than in the UK, however rarely do I see people angry or so drunk you find them curled up on the ground vomiting.

I believe it is called self control, the ability to know when you have had enough and to appreciate a drink for what it is, not just as a vehichle for escaping your percieved problems.

eastgate > westgate

Eastgate? There's three now? What happened to the one in Burgate?

Anyway they're all boring as hell without music. I'd rather get have a drink or two at home before going out to an expensive place than go to a weatherspoons. meh.

On topic... I think it's the drinkers fault.
It can go too far and sometimes they need help to come back from the edge but I don't think it's the retailers fault at all. They're a business plain and simple. As long as they stick within the law.... If people didn't think the whole point of an evening was to get so wasted you piss and/or shit yourself then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Retailers should not be blamed for the public's inability to control their desires.

its true, though i do like to place the blame upon certain retailers for my *cough* desires...such as Thorntons, ben & jerrys and nearly all take out places in the bournemouth area I have to admit that the responsibility is down to me when i eat till i feel sick... then get the urge to eat some more...then go stand infront of the mirror, lift my top and do a smaller version of the truffle shuffle

However, i have just decided that i have a tape worm (I call him wormy) and is it his fault i am perpetually hungry...happily it is also him that puts weight on and not me.

I see no losers in this blame culture of mine.
