Should I live in a school?

While houseshare hunting this morning I came across this:

I'm finding it hard to resist that price and space but I'm wondering, what fun things can you all think of to do with a school to play in? I'm going to need stuff to do when I can't be bothered to travel the 35 miles back to Newcastle to see all my friends.

From the info they've emailed me it still has school equipment such as crash mats in the sports hall lying around so there should be a fair bit of scope for things to do.

Lot more then in a normal apartment, if it has network etc 2normal" apartment stuff.

Skateboard through the halls(if you're into that), have that nerdy sex in the gymlocker(if you're into that), host MAAAASSIVE parties(if you're into that), enter...the chem lab(if you're into that) and ofcourse the gym(who's into that?), not to mention you could take a jog no matter what the weather(seriously?).

If it's a non-functioning school that's simply being modified to livig quarters, i could think of a ton

Hopefully I'll be going to view it next week. I think I'm going to do it, it just seems like too fun an opportunity to miss. I'm suddenly thinking of the games they invent on Red Dwarf. Soapsud slalom might well be worth a try.

Toht, it's an old school that sometime in the next year or two is going to modernised and expanded into a new school. They want a few people living there to deter vandals and the like. My bedroom would pretty much just be a classroom with a bed stuck in it.

fucking comedy. get 80 mates round for a lan party. hire a sound system and have a rave. set up a projector in the sports hall and have a cinema night, charging £2 on the door obviously. Set up a nightclub? Set up a pool club? Install a hot tub in the staff room. Wank off over the girls toilets? (ahem)

The first thing that sprang to mind to me was that it would be massively creepy! Having been to boarding school and romaing the corridors at night when I shouldn't....I was very freaked out. Just makes me think of the shining and seeing those twins in the corridor *shudder*

Are they actually serious about that size? Thats a single bed with a 1 foot strip on one side.

I read it as a 25 foot square, which sounds about right as when I spoke to them they were renting out the classrooms as doublerooms.

If my barely remembered maths is right that would be 625 square feet, or about 55 square meters.

So I pick up the keys tomorrow and plan to move my stuff in over the weekend. The rooms are huge, there's loads of equipment to play with in the sports hall and I've claimed the old IT lab as my bedroom.

There are a whole bunch of old PCs in there. I was wondering if I could make a video wall out of all the old screens but have no idea how I'd go about it.

Unfortunately I won't be allowed to throw any parties. The cost of the cheap rent is slightly stricter terms because I've got to look after the place. There will still be plenty of fun happening though. I'm thinking about sitting in the middle of a dark hall, watching a couple of horror films on my laptop and then exploring the place by torchlight just to get maximum enjoyment out of the creepiness.

There are two sets of ropes in the gym, climbing bars bolted to the walls, several crash mats, a trampoline, balance beams, springboards, basketball hoops and bags full of footballs, tennis balls, rackets, bats...

And it's conveniently located between a pub and a doctor's surgery for when things inevitably go wrong
