Should FHOT be lifted out of the depths?

Well hello!

Long gone are the days when this forum was a hideaway for the bad boyz and girlz of DAOC only, and so I was pondering the question 'should this forum still be under DAOC?'

I'm not saying things necessarily WILL change depending on this vote, but I would appreciate your feedback and/or comments please

A merger of general and FHOT is really not in our best interest and i doubt one could sell it at all. What would be offered in such an event that FHOT be moved?

Personal section? Sub sections even?

We ofcourse need to discuss this with the crew, but we are intriqued.

Also i think many of us like the depths

I think the regular OT posters have developed some kind of small sub-society. Personally, I like this community and the characters and would not want to merge into something "bigger".

I think this is a bad idea. The amount of people who use this off topic section is perfect. We all know one another so if someone makes a joke about Seel's long nails or the fact no one can spell CoRkNutZ's name, we know it'll be seen by the friends we have made.

This off topic section is like an idiosyncrasy, we all know what to expect from one another and we all have our little "in" jokes which only us lot fully understand.

Some people may say "yeah, but if you merge now, in a few weeks you will have more people to share these little things with". That is a good point, but let me explain why I am against this.

FHOT is like the perfect cake mixture. If we merged with another Off Topic section it would be like pouring in tons of new ingredients. Everything would be off set. The balance would be disturbed.

Other reasons are the fact it's hard to keep your post visible for more than 10 minutes with the amount of new threads being created. With a merge it would be all too much. I have it so I can view the max amount of posts per page and I still have to visit Page 2 to find half the things!

Well the reason I guess is that since DAoC is dying (yeah, I know.. DOOOM etc, but it´s kinda hard to deny this by now ), the idea is to close the entire DAoC section?!

Voted yes without thinking about it. Glad you said there wouldn't be a merge, it'd more likely be a move but I'm not so sure it'd make any difference. The only thing is that currently, newcomers to FH first off probably post in the general section and other then those who play(ed) daoc, not many others really look here. It'd probably make FHOT a first stop for a lot of new people which I'm not 100% sure about. Sure I like new people but....I dunno, something don't seem right. Could always trial it then have the existing FHOT people post their opinions at the end of the trial period? Sure general section would have something to say about it too

I like it where it is... it seems pointless to move it unless you plan on closing down the DAoC section.
