apprantly it only does a los check at the start of the shot..if you move out after the shot has started (The bow has been loaded) then you get hit..+ lag etc

It does a LoS check on both draw and release for arrows (Used to just be draw, but that was fixed sometime between SI and ToA.)

The problem is that with bows, the time damage is registered from the time the shot is released can be anything up to 3/4 seconds. This means although you may well have moved inside a keep, the shot has already been fired, and you are going to be hit.

Either that or you are being volley'd, AE'd, treb'd etc Bop. The "Whilst you are under a roof, you are immune" thing, seems pretty buggy, and within a keep thats destroyed (0% hp) the walls dont stop damage anyway.

When it's lagging a lot, what you think is your position in the game isn't necessarily where other players see you, ie lag ghosts etc, sometimes you lag through walls (your character on the server that is) and can still get targetted and killed, I'm sure it happened to many yesterday in Da Behnn, maybe you were one of them. Sure is something that has happened to me on occasions, even walked through walls a couple times, I mean, not just the image of my character on the server but plain walked through from my point of view as well.

Otherwise, it's sometimes possible to get line of sight at very oblique angles since NF, which may or may not apply here.

This is most likely one of two things. Either you are standing somewhere that someone can see you through a window (I know it sounds patronising, but really there are a lot of sightlines it's easy not to notice) or you're being shot when you lag through a wall. With the low draw/cast times these days you don't have to lag for long.

Actually, most times the enemy will know you're lagging through a wall (it's pretty obvious) so shooting you when you do it is quite unsporting.

..all true; both from the shooting and receiving side.

1) Quite often I've released a shot before you've left los.
2) At more defensive angles, I more often I get 'You cannot see your target'
3) Sometimes people lag. Worth a shot, because I don't always know that until you suddenly jump back 30 feet. And some people do charge solo :)
4) Windows. Always fun.
5) Walls don't always work as you may hope (he says remembering a round of caster bolts!)

As Ethild says, if you're in an outpost piece with 0 hitpoints, then you can be hit with pbaoe and gtaoe as normal. Broken walls don't give you any protection.

If your inside a keep piece and standing still for >4s and you get hit, then its one of these:
- the keep piece has 0% health and youve been volleyed
- you are near a ladder/stair opening in the roof and have been volleyed
- someone has a los on you through a window opening

but, if you are stood at a window and then move to safety you may well get hit by arrows and spell bolts for the next 3 or 4 seconds. The way the game codes delayed range attacks is quite simplistic, it decides at release of shot/bolt whether the person has been hit just the same as a normal spell DD, BUT it then delays the application of the damage by the flighttime of the arrow/bolt.

same thing often happens when you pop phaseshift, you hit phase and think you are ok, but in reality the game alrdy has you tagged as having been hit by a runie bolt and 5 arrows, its just waiting until they reach your position to apply the damage (so you still get hit).

I got the same a few times yesterday Bop.

It wasn't just Arrows, so that counts volley out. I was definitely not in LoS for more than 4 secs etc...

I did move a little so I guess that it was a lag ghost issue...

So you stop your shrooms shooting Lag hosts then? :p

This is really stupid and bugging me alot since NF was released..
Basically any Center Keep I try to defend I get shot through solid walls (posted a screenshot in another thread about being shot next to the lord, no LoS what so ever there..).
I have no idea if it's me lagging as I hardly really lag unless extremely much numbers of defenders/attackers or if it's the archer shooting me that lags but it's really annoying when your standing inside a keep with no LoS and you get rapid fired by an archer.
