Anybody up to date with online shopping?

I need to intergrate a shopping cart into an asp site im doing. Had a quick google and there are lots of them about but what about the back end of things. How is the money handled, where does it go etc. Usually i have used WorldPay to deal with money, will i still need someone like that to an extent?
