Ok I've found a nice template on VN boards that I am intending to make ready for 1.82.

What I am wondering is should I tweak it, and give myself +6 shield spec losing some matter and energy resists or should i stick with the better resists?

Basically I am asking how much of an affect on block rate with +6 shield give me? I was intending to spec 42 shielf, will have 90 dex in template and get mob 3 asap.

I know this doesnt answer your question directly ( I really dont know the answer to that :) ) but from my personal experience for a good block rate in rvr id recommend 50+11 shield, mob4, dex3 and 101 dex in template. I know wasnt happy with anything less than that. I dont know how much of the effectiveness came from each of the components however :(

50 shield with mob3 and high dex is good enuf tbh. + to shield is a waste of time with the block rate tests ive done so far.

+11 shield raises your block% by 5.5%, so you'll be blocking around one more attack out of 20. Take it or leave it :)

To have a good block% in RvR I think the most important thing is to have your WS capped, isn't it the difference in weaponskill that dictates how often will the opponent penetrate your defences?

Guess u are speaking from a Warden pov since u mentioned 1.82 so i'd get +11 Shield no matter what (maybe drop summat from your AF and or Hps to achieve it).

It seems to be impossible to get everything I want from the template with the artifacts I want.

Basically I have two sced pieces to play with

Now I could drop matter resist on second piece to 5 and change the energy resist to +6 shield, but would i be better to keep the resists?

Is it true about WS? If so then I might have to totally rethink the template. I was only intending to have 55 strength as dmg wasn't what I was looking for only interrupt from weapon and shield for stun / blocking.

that's wrong Nix. Only the enemy WS matters for the purpose of determining the chance to block. You own WS has nothing to do with that =)

btw, I did some editing with your two SC pieces, as they are horrific:

Piece1:
7dex
5% cold
7% energy
6shield (swap with an equal piece with +13% matter when farming Warlock bridges)

Piece2:
68hits
28con
7% cold
5% slash

and trust me, loosing the whole lot of 3dex will not really affect you much =)

btw, 1.82 also gives easier artis, so consider making a really good template. I know the Warden temp I made for my bro has pretty interesting stats to survive longer (but only 2% casting speed and 86dex /shrug, don't need that to bodyguard someone and can't really cast while BG'ing) with 376hp, 86con, WH, etc. etc. etc.

Are you 100% sure about that? I've always thought that it's the difference between your WS and the opponents WS that is used to calculate the chances to penetrate defences... correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen this stated in several places iirc (never any accurate calculations though).

Drop those Boots of Rebirth they are for a drood not for a warden -.-
U don't need neither 2% cast speed neither 18 Acuity neither that 10 Healing Bonus m8er, sc 1 mp boots and squeeze in that +x shield u missing and some other resists if u wanna play a bit around.

Ok I found the whoever made the template I stole had missed off some resists. I've tried to rework things so make use of it and these are the best three options I have come up with. Would like to know which people thing I should choose.

Oh shit, I started to browse through the net for explanations for weaponskill and specs etc... I don't recommend anyone to do that, it will just get your head all mixed up. Gazillions of "controlled tests", all showing different results, and gazillions of people who are "100% sure" of their point of view to the subject, like Liloe :D

350-360 Dex mob4 and 50+11 shield means u can pretty much block anything tbh !

Aka : I did Eoy and didnt get hit once and all i got was a dented shield on hero :<

Then again my hero didnt have red pbt ;)

I did read that sheild has its own hidden weapon skill on the herald once.

So basically your skill (shield) vs enermy weapon skill

now the question is do heros get a better hidded weapon shield skill also.

One thing is funny me non toa luri rr3 with mob 3 soloed and rr7 mincer and btw i was wearing rog, but did have to moose to win

I'm from albion, but I think I might be able to help out here.

Don't judge me, this is only what I've read in different fora, and been told by E&E.

(Albion)

1; Main tanks, not hybrids as Paladins, have a natural higher chance of blocking, and hitting with their shield.
2; Blocking is based from the stat dex. When you have above 300 dex you will increase your chance of blocking by 1% per each 10pts in dex, after 350 dex, it's .5% per 10pts of dex.
3; Blocking is also based on the level of your shield skill, which is .5% per level in the skill. That's 25% blocking with 50+0 shield.
4; There is a hard cap of 85% in blocking rate, as I know it, and I think I've just about capped that with 350dex, MoB4, 10% blockbonus, 50+13shield.

that just means you got extremely lucky, I have done eoy tons of times with a rr10 hero (50+20 shield, moblock5, dex4, 101dex template) and it could get hit loads from time to time.
