Some people would say Slam is a nessesity, i dunno about that never having had a shiled speccable tank high enough to get it. But i can say after being on the reciving end of many a slam its quite a nice little tech to have
And of course, shields are always useful for guard/engage/intercept (is that baseline though?). I think you should definatly consider making shield a fairly high spec, maybe not high enough for slam but maybe that nice back positional you get for stopping anyone from running away (i'm assuming like most shield styles it has a stun in it somwhere)
Slam comes at 43 I think. Lots and lots of important specc points lost there. If I had a Thane, I´d prolly specc in stormcalling, 2 hander and parry instead of shield.
fyi slam (shield spec 42) is not affected by resists/determination, every1 stays stunned for the whole 9 seconds, so figure out do you need it or not. it is the only counter against MoC on chanters
My thane is a slam thane, trick is to slam then switch 2h to deal better damage while they cant hit back Of course with the points to get 42 shield you will miss out of some weapskill and your damage cap wont be quite as high, but slam is worth it in my opinion.
have a shield specced thane and i must say he is a great money collector
slam is very important imo so i suggest u go 42 shield 46 SC in case ur a hammer specc 39 is enough imo if so u get 20 parry aswell ... very suitable specc that works fine both in rvr and when ur harvesting
Now with the new upcoming patch, where they remove the recast timer on the spell i would say you should specc that to 48.
Slam is like LUBLY, you drop stealthers, casters and others with sucky armor if you manage to slam them.. But make sure you have some dex there, as its easily evaded.
plz for the love of all that is holy in DAoC get slam if u can specc sheild! Healers will hate you for breaking mez so the least you can do is slam for them
