Warmace= 3spd for example
Featherlight hammers=2.2 spd

only diff between arms is that they have dex as tertiary stat which is only 10 points below the dex a merc will have(lvl 50 cap).

player crafted crush weaps (hammers/maces) range from 3spd, to 4.2spd
player crafted slash weaps (daggers/axes) range from 2.4spd, to
3.9spd

that featherlight hammer is a 90%qual, 25% bonus drop, so unless you are completely retarded, you wouldn't use it in rvr

Besides i ALWAYS use crafted weapons in rvr!

also a lvl 50 saracen merc would have the same STRE and DEX (maybe 4 points dif) so that would make them uber at thurst (thurst is 50%stre/50%dex)

thurst give +15% on chain armour, neutral on all hibbie armour. and also dragonfang does a 6 sec stun

Problem with thrust mercs is they lose some versatility. Crush mercs can choose to use fast hammers, but they can also choose to use the slowest/fattest hammer in RH. Thrust weapons just don't offer the spd range of crush. A crush specced highlander merc WILL out damage a thrust specced in the early part of a fight (front loaded dmg with slower weaps is higher) although the dmg over time will be comparable. The problem is most RvR scraps are over pretty quickly, so the thrust specced merc is at a disadvantage there. The bonus to chain from thrust doesn't balance the initial dmg from crush in this patch, although when the resist table change, it may be different.

Also although dragonfang is a great style, it chains off evade. Mercs only ever get evade I so this isn't as uber as it is for an infil for example. Anyway, back to the original point, if you want to spec a merc with high shield (42 for slam) highlander crush/slash is blatantly the only way to go as thrusters are just not slow enough to do any meaningful damage in RvR with sword&board. Remeber, after a slam, you opponent is helpless, using fancy thrust styles that chain off evades etc.. are useless. Get the biggest, fattest hammer out and bash their brains in.

Would be nice to see logs from a thrust specc and crush spec on similar opponents though

1.54 introduces 16.5 dps thrust offhand weapons
