I think daoc assumes you will be walking in the same direction, if you are experiencing a lagg spike. So if you were walking south and then made a turn and head west (during a lagg spike), everyone else will see you walking south. Now when the server does get your information you will "teleport" to the place you are supposed to be.

Seriously it can be lag and it has been seen many times (caused by lag).

If you really got profe, then show it and others can judge if your talking bull or not.

Not like you would have won anyway.
And ive played some with shayana (and pandora) myself, and from what ive seen, shayana doesn't cheat. Why would you belive that anyway?
Why would i belive you?

Sounds more like the player was "warping" which is an effect were a player seems to "hop" from 1 point to another, In a standard FPS type game these were often used to an advantage, But i fail to see the advantage here, Someone "warping" around loses the ability to Cast, As everytime the server would catch up with there movement, They would get "you move and cancel you XXX" Text. So more lag then the "drag window" expliot. Which is actualy easy to detect. You /stick target. Target move north, After a moment Target reapears back were you stuck, You run back, target moves another direction, After a moment target reapears back were you stuck. Yes i've tested it myself (note not in rvr, In a quiet place with a 2nd account running. ) and its very easy to tell between Lag and "drag". This from the discription is lag.

The best thing would be if Mythic removed the possibility to run the game in windowed mode and go back to the old settings where the game turned off if u alt/tabbed. Worked better then IMO.

Ping and Lag is the same, ping is the time it takes for a single packet of information to travel from yuor Nic/Modem to the server and back, lag is generally considered to be poor ping time.

Packetloss on the other hand is entirely differant however, I wont explain that because people will start using that as an excuse.

There is however no way to enforce this type of exploit, seems to be that it is an whether you want to beleive it or not its up to you, its no differant than the issues we had with straffing while stuned, since its not possible to run through soembody irl hterefore it "should" not be possible to do it in game, however, if you do you can avoid being killed, is it fair or not?.

The question is, who is going to sit and be hit when some tank is smackin your brains in when you can move but possibly abuse game mechanics...?

Its up to mythic to fix it, the range on a sword for example is considerably greater than the lenght of the blade, this is to try and combat issues with the netcode I presume similar to this.

Kind of depends if the effects the caster or healer had running at the time would be lost of that player died, kinda like a warden running about to stay alive if not actually managing to do anything like heal etc etc thus keeping PBT up.

The fact that the person is alive is enough in some cases.

to all the posters who do not seem to have read everything and still think this has something to do with that window drag crap i suggest reading, then thinking, and then posting.
really annoying, ppl read the dumbass thread title which would better fit into a cs forum then here, come here and post stuff about that drag window teleport crap, which is something totally different.

and quinthar:
ooooooooooh yeah the poor tanks, they have such a hard time in daoc atm...

and no its not the same than strafing while stunned. while stunned you shouldnt be able to move, cause you are stunned and shouldnt be able to do anything. but while you are not stunned afaik it is allowed to use the standard movement buttons every player got and everyone can use for their own best.
since when is using movement buttons "abusing game mechanics ?"

and lol at things not being possible irl... this is a game, and it has no colission detection. dont tell me you never ran through someone.

i also know some hibs who know how to move, and instead of whining i tried using /face, mostly work. when they suddenly start sprinting away then it can be hard, but well you gotta be fast then :p

Not realy, Hmm how to explain...

Ever been in a group and speed seems intermitent, Like every few hundred yards you would seem to slow down and the start running fast again. This is server catching up with your speeder. Most don't even notice it tbh, Just a small stutter, May even be as short as half a sec . But it means speed drops and then restarts.

Same happens with a warden, If he lags or "drags" He is no longer sending the PBT signal to server, So in turn server stops sending signal to the rest of the group. He lags you lose PBT, So the advantage to stay alive is gone.
Only advantage ping has in this game, Is not to lag at all. Then you are in control on what the server recieves.

Ok even tho this isn't cheating its still a bit lame imo. So he moves and strafes etc and it makes him lagg or he does it and he happens to laggs then and it looks like he teleports or whatever you wanna call it. Yeah everyone can do it but most ppl dont (I think). It's an advantage to do it so I guess everyone who wanna be 1337 does it :p
So no cheating, just lameness he used (or leetness if that's what you wanna call it ) :D

well, can see that as lame or not. i've seen it before this thread has been started by hibs, and well i dont think its lame. it affects tanks, which really have it too easy imo. so if they decide to go easy mode and just stick&spam style, they deserve to miss some styles etc.

its just the same as twirling around to get out of view and shit like that, its lame but its not like tanks have a challenge anywhoo
